She is at work on a memoir about building a house on what will become an avian preserve.

Richard Ford is the author of five novels, among them The Sportswriter and Independence Day, which won a Pulitzer Prize. His most recent book, the story collection A Multitude of Sins, includes several stories from The New Yorker. His novel The Lay of the Land, the third in the Frank Bascombe trilogy, will be published next year.
