"Excellent read! Legal thrillers can often be rather dry because there is so much emphasis put on the legal aspects that the characters are often two-dimensional or too dry for words. Not the case with Lescroart! We are not only exposed to the professional sides of Dismas Hardy and Abraham Glitsky, but also to their engaging humor, their fears, their families along with the dramas they create, and all the other elements that cause a reader to step right into their lives."

" This was a good one. My favorite characters (Abe and Dismas) involved in solving the crime of who murdered a man and his fiance and then burnt his house down around him. Good one about a mixed up family and a good twist at the end (although it wasn't too hard to guess the twist--girlfriend did it and framed daughter-in-law). Liked it, will keep it on my shelves. "

" I like the lead up and legal case in this book from Lescroart but not the ending. The book starts when the home of a powerful patron of San Francisco politics home is burned to the ground and the bodies of both he and his fiance are found in the ashes. Further investigation reveals that they were both shot before the fire making it a murder investigation. Dismas hardy becomes involved when his ex-girlfriend the daughter-in-law of the deceased is charged with the crime. Nice investigation and court case back and forth but as I started off the ending comes of kind of unrealistic and flat. "

About John Lescroart
John Lescroart is the author of numerous crime thrillers, including the Dismas Hardy series, of which several novels were New York Times bestsellers. His novel Dead Irish was a finalist for the Shamus Award, just one of many awards he has received for his fiction.
About David Colacci
David Colacci is an actor and director who has directed and performed in prominent theaters nationwide. His credits include roles from Shakespeare to Albee, as well as extensive work on new plays. As a narrator, he has won numerous Earphones Awards, earned Audie Award nominations, and been included in Best Audio of the Year lists by such publications as Publishers Weekly, AudioFile magazine, and Library Journal. He was a resident actor and director with the Cleveland Play House for eight years and has been artistic director of the Hope Summer Rep Theater since 1992.
