INSPIRATION FOR THE ORIGINAL SERIES THE LINCOLN LAWYER – THE #1 TV SHOW ON NETFLIX
The bestselling legal thriller has charismatic defense attorney Mickey Haller taking on a slam-dunk court case involving a Beverly Hills playboy—but as it spirals into a nightmare, he finds himself in a fight for his life.
Mickey Haller is a Lincoln Lawyer, a criminal defense attorney who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Town Car, traveling between the far-flung courthouses of Los Angeles to defend clients of every kind. Bikers, con artists, drunk drivers, drug dealers—they're all on Mickey Haller's client list. For him, the law is rarely about guilt or innocence, it's about negotiation and manipulation. Sometimes it's even about justice.
A Beverly Hills playboy arrested for attacking a woman he picked up in a bar chooses Haller to defend him, and Mickey has his first high-paying client in years. It is a defense attorney's dream, what they call a franchise case. And as the evidence stacks up, Haller comes to believe this may be the easiest case of his career. Then someone close to him is murdered and Haller discovers that his search for innocence has brought him face-to-face with evil as pure as a flame. To escape without being burned, he must deploy every tactic, feint, and instinct in his arsenal—this time to save his own life.

"I was starting go get disappointed because I am going through all the Bosch stories fast and Mickey the lawyer is a great substitute. Follows similar story lines of detectives but from the law point of view. Very informative as well as entertaining. Loved learning how the law works for the presumably guilty. "

“Will fascinate…and dazzle.”
— People“One of the best novels Connelly has written, if not the best.”
— USA Today“Hurtles into the realm of the legal thriller with excitingly renewed energy and a full bag of tricks. Entertaining as it is during the investigation phase, the book goes up a notch when the courtroom conniving takes over.”
— New York Times“[This] intricate, fast-moving tale barrels along…You won’t want to put it down until you’ve navigated its rapids to the end.”
— Los Angeles Times“In The Lincoln Lawyer, master mystery novelist Connelly has created one of the most memorable characters in modern American literature…Mickey Haller comes across as a sympathetic, multidimensional character in whom still lurk idealism, humanity, conscience, and a desire to do better by his child, even while he exemplifies almost every stereotype of the ambulance-chasing, publicity-seeking, rule-bending defense lawyer.”
— Forbes“A sumptuous thriller that excels in every measurable category: plot complexity, character development, pacing, intensity…Quite possibly, Connelly’s best yet.”
— Barnes&Noble.com“Connelly has stepped up to the plate in the overflowing ballpark of legal thrillers and blasted a grand slam his first time at bat.”
— Chicago Tribune“Michael Connelly…[is] not a ‘genre’ novelist but the real thing, taking us into parts of the real America that most of our novelists never visit because they don’t even know where, or what, they are.”
— Washington Post, praise for the author“Connelly’s first legal thriller has gotten virtually universal raves for its courage, plotting and humor—and those qualities also make the audio version a triumph. Grupper vividly brings to life Connelly’s large cast of characters…Grupper’s take on Connelly’s scenes…is fascinating…an audio tour-de-force of the highest order.”
— Publishers Weekly (starred audio review)“Connelly offers intrigue and bracing twists in his first legal thriller…he gets the legal details and maneuvers just right, and Haller is a great character—world-weary but funny and likable—he’s never met an angle he couldn’t play or a corner he couldn’t cut. Contains everything readers have come to expect from powerhouse Connelly.”
— Kirkus Reviews“Adam Grupper turns in a supercharged performance as Haller…His character is younger—as is the sound of Grupper’s voice—and he’s less discriminating about morality. Still, as portrayed by Grupper, you can’t help liking him. He blends just the right amount of attitude, wit, and toughness to deliver a Cadillac performance.”
