Compared favorably to Dan Brown's novels, Sam Bourne's The Last Testament takes aim at a conflict that's endured since Biblical times. In Jerusalem, the shooting of an innocent man sets off a chain of killings that threatens to derail a historic deal between the Israelis and Palestinians. Maggie Costello is called in to negotiate the peace, but soon realizes the string of murders is targeting the expert archaeologists who are her only hope of unraveling a long-hidden secret in the Bible. " The comparisons are inevitable: "pretender to the Dan Brown crown". This from 2007 is probably the pick of the 'Dam Brourne' crop. It's the most rounded and stretches credulity the least. Like all this genre they're pacey page turners but this one I enjoyed the most. "

" One of my favourite authors - his books are always well written with interesting characters and fast moving plot lines - only problem is that he is only writing part time so there is always a longish wait for the next novel. "

" Good story. Ended too quickly. Even better that Bourne's first one. Recommended. "

" A la Dan Brown - good beach read "
