"I thought that this book was well written and expertly put together. For the most part, it was exciting and riveting but there were some parts in the book where I began to do the head bob (or maybe it was just my lack of sleep). I liked this book for the for the reason of "other worldly" thrill. The mystery of course is that a hell hound is cursing the Baskervilles family, which interested me enough to read it. The length of the book is about a 120 page medium sized book so if you want a short, stimulating book this is the right choice. However, there is a downside. Mr. Sherlock Holmes only appears minimally in the story, which means that most of it is "Watson and The Hound of the Baskervilles." The reason why this is degrading to the book is the fact that there is less deductive reasoning and wit from the great mind of Sherlock Holmes. This book reminds me of a suspenseful movie directed by Guy Ritchie who in fact, directed the Sherlock Holmes movies. I would recommend this book to any who like suspenseful, thought provoking, mysterious novels."

" I really did not think I would like it in the slightest, however we were studying it in English and so I had to read it, to start with I read it very half heartedly and then as the story began to unfold I was hooked. I enjoyed every page and could not put it down. A true timeless classic which will never date. "
— Esme, 2/18/2014" Listen to this while traveling through Arkansas and Texas. Helped pass some of the hours of a 27 hour road trip. "
— Sheila, 11/29/2013" Really clever and engaging. Disappointed with the conclusion though. Also, didnt like how it jumped from Waston's diary to letters and stuff. Felt that i missed the action while it was happening and only caught the wrap up at the end. But still liked it. "
— Dee-anne, 11/28/2013" Outstanding. Dr. Watson has the majority of this story unto himself and it is brilliantly narrated as he pursues the investigation by himself (mostly ;) and shows how far he has come under Holmes' tutelage. Really excellent. "
— Adam, 11/26/2013" Adoro la serie de Arthur Conan Doyle... si te gusta Dr. House, puede que te gusten todos los libros de sherlock holmes "
— Marco, 8/4/2013" Enjoyable but not a challenging read. "
— Justin, 7/27/2013" I read this book and it was soooooo gooood! ...but not enough to win a perfect 5 star... I read the graphic novel of this story too. But I liked the novel better. "

— Anne, 8/9/2011" I expected more for this book , many friends of mine tell me that it is the best Sherlock Holmes's book. It's really easy to guess the end of the story. I don't know if this book is a creepy or if I just don't like Shelock Holmes anymore. "
— Edgar, 5/29/2011" I really enjoyed this book. Makes me want to hone my sleuthing skills. "
— Philip, 1/11/2011" Loved it! Clever writing, great plot with interesting characters. "
— Nova, 10/24/2010" Obviously a classic - Loved the ending, but would prefer more chapters with Sherlock (as opposed to just Watson). "
— Tim, 2/20/2009" Exciting and unpredictable, all the way through. "
— Roger, 1/11/2009" ingenious, exciting and doesn't drag on a bit "
— Adithya, 5/27/2008" Wow what a great read! This was the first sherlock holmes story I have read and now I see what the fuss is all about. Doyle is an amazing writer and I can't wait to read all the other holmes stories. "
— Citizensnipps, 2/4/2008" I've never read Sherlock Holmes before, and I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure and mystery! "

— Cheryl, 11/11/2007Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930) was born of Irish parentage in Scotland. He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, but he also had a passion for storytelling. His first book introduced that prototype of the modern detective in fiction, Sherlock Holmes. Despite the immense popularity Holmes gained throughout the world, Doyle was not overly fond of the character and preferred to write other stories. Eventually popular demand won out and he continued to satisfy readers with the adventures of the legendary sleuth. He also wrote historical romances and made two essays into pseudoscientific fantasy: The Lost World and The Poison Belt.
Jim Weiss’ storytelling recordings have received the highest awards from the Parents’ Choice Foundation, Oppenheim Toy Portfolio, and the American Library Association and have been widely praised in major publications across North America and internationally.
