Quotes & Awards

  • “I was waiting for the scene when Elliott whips Paula’s panties off the shower rod where they are drying. Would it be as funny and poignant as it was in the 1977 movie? I’m here to say that it rocked. Neil Simon’s screenplay about a flighty dancer/actress and her level-headed daughter who are forced to share a tiny New York City apartment with an off-off-off Broadway actor still works. L.A. Theatre Works’ 90-minute production, recorded live at UCLA’s James Bridges Theater, is a comical, soppy pleasure from beginning to end. Matthew Floyd Miller channels Elliot’s quirky Midwestern sincerity. Amy Pietz is a scatterbrained traditionalist. And Raini Rodriguez is a revelation as daughter Lucy. So make a big bowl of popcorn, put your feet up, and settle in.”

About the Author

Neil Simon, Americas most prolific and beloved playwright, is the author of more than thirty plays and screenplays. As a child he found refuge and inspiration watching early comedians like Charlie Chaplin, eventually deciding to incorporate comedy into his many works. He was awarded a Pulitzer Prize and three Tony Awards and received more Oscar and Tony Award nominations than any other writer. Despite this, many still feel he is underrated. He now splits his time between New York and Los Angeles.

About the Narrators

Matthew Wolf has worked extensively as a voice, theater, radio, and television actor. He has appeared in many productions on the London stage, including the title role in a sell-out production of Macbeth alongside Twilight star Robert Pattinson. He is also the official voice of Thor for Mavel Studios’ animated films Hulk Vs. Thor and Thor: Tales of Asgard. He lives in Los Angeles, where he is also producing with his production company, Cool Hand International.

André Sogliuzzo has been working in the Los Angeles region for the past fifteen years as a voice actor. He has provided voices for countless characters in movies, animated programs, and video games, though he has also had some appearing roles in several movies. André’s area of expertise is the wide array of accents that he can provide for various characters, which has permitted him to work with some of the best voice actors and actresses in the country.

Devon Sorvari is an Earphones Award–winning and Audie Award–nominated narrator. She graduated from NYU’s Circle in the Square program and The Classical Studio. She has nationwide theater credits ranging from Shakespeare to musicals.
