Publisher Description

His romantic weekend in ruins, shy 20-something artist Perry Foster learns that things can always get worse when he returns home from San Francisco to find a dead body in his bathtub. A dead body in a very ugly sportscoat - and matching socks. The dead man is a stranger to Perry, but that's not much of a comfort; how did a strange dead man get in a locked flat at the isolated Alton Estate in the wilds of the 'Northeast Kingdom' of Vermont? Perry turns to help from 'tall, dark and hostile' former navy SEAL Nick Reno - but is Reno all that he seems?

"Another fab book by Josh Lanyon. Another gay romance this month, what is this even, right? Idk but it's what I've been in the mood for and when I read the summary I felt like it would be a fun little mystery -- and it was! The characters were great, the mystery was intriguing and the romance was really sweet. The ending felt a little rushed but I can't really complain, I enjoyed this story almost as much as my first read through of 'Fatal Shadows' (the first in the Adrien English series) and knowing how much I loved that book (which was a lot), that is definitely saying something."

" A dead man in a bathtub who vanishes without a trace, an aging mansion in rural Vermont - now divided up into a boarding house but still haunted by its notorious past and an unresolved crime and potential loot, eccentric boarders, indifferent cops, dark and stormy winter nights, all add up to a pretty run-of-the-mill mystery. Until that is, Perry and his down the hall neighbor, Nick, team up to try to get to the bottom of it. The unlikely pairing of Perry, and young a naive gay man, and Nick, a cynical ex SEAL, make this a fun, entertaining read and make me hope that the two will team up to solve other mysteries. "

" As a mystery, this was an enjoyable read - it's always fun to try to solve the puzzle before it's revealed. I was wishing for a bit more in terms of the development of the main characters, and ultimately, their relationship. Nick was a complex character with a lot of history, not much of which was shared. Perry was sweet and intelligent, but it seemed as though Nick never really viewed him as much more than the cute kid that he kind of grew attached to vs. an equal partner. I like my HEA's and this book hinted at the potential for one, but nothing definite. All in all, I liked it and found myself engrossed in getting to the bottom of the "whodunnit". "
