"I really enjoyed this book and that fact that it was based in the historical mystery of Anastasia. It had a few moments where the pace could have picked up but all and all for a supernatural romance it was really good. You come to love Calder for all of his mistakes which I found a little annoying in the beginning and you become intrigued to learn more about the Czar of Russia and how the came to fall. Very interesting. Believe it or not, it even encouraged me to go and dig up a little history for myself."

" Well, I never write reviews on books because I find it to take a long time and I'm sort of lazy, Lol. But I did want to mention that there wasn't that much romance in this "Supernatural love story". The romance didn't even really start until near the end. And when it did start it wasn't that beautiful, romatic, or something you would "ohhhh" at and then sigh. "

" I didn't love this as much as I loved A Certain Slant of Light. I found this to be much more sci-fi and a lot less romance than it appeared to be from the inside cover. Overall it was interesting, not very memorable though. I felt like I was reading The Time Traveler's Wife and had to stop trying to figure it out so much and just go with it. "

" I picked this one up a long while back. The book was not what I thought it was going to be about from the cover description. It had an unexpected twist of the main character tangling with the Romanov family and Rasputin. Quick read; I finished it in a day. Nothing fantastic or earth shattering, but enjoyable. "

This reminded me of that Connie Willis book--Passage--600 pages of wandering through the Titanic. I felt the same frustration of "when is something going to happen?!" "

Laura Whitcomb grew up in Pasadena, California where she lived in a mildly haunted house for 12 years. She has taught English in California and Hawaii. The winner of three Kay Snow Writing Awards, she was once runner up in the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction contest for the best first sentence of the worst science fiction novel never written. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her dog Maximus.
