"I really enjoyed this book and that fact that it was based in the historical mystery of Anastasia. It had a few moments where the pace could have picked up but all and all for a supernatural romance it was really good. You come to love Calder for all of his mistakes which I found a little annoying in the beginning and you become intrigued to learn more about the Czar of Russia and how the came to fall. Very interesting. Believe it or not, it even encouraged me to go and dig up a little history for myself."

" Wish I had loved this like her previous book.... "
— Ellen, 2/15/2014" Ingenious idea, poorly written. "
— Sha, 2/14/2014" Well, I never write reviews on books because I find it to take a long time and I'm sort of lazy, Lol. But I did want to mention that there wasn't that much romance in this "Supernatural love story". The romance didn't even really start until near the end. And when it did start it wasn't that beautiful, romatic, or something you would "ohhhh" at and then sigh. "
— Courtney, 1/31/2014" The ending was so unexpected . . . it was amazing. "
— Saira, 1/26/2014" I didn't love this as much as I loved A Certain Slant of Light. I found this to be much more sci-fi and a lot less romance than it appeared to be from the inside cover. Overall it was interesting, not very memorable though. I felt like I was reading The Time Traveler's Wife and had to stop trying to figure it out so much and just go with it. "
— Kim, 1/23/2014" I picked this one up a long while back. The book was not what I thought it was going to be about from the cover description. It had an unexpected twist of the main character tangling with the Romanov family and Rasputin. Quick read; I finished it in a day. Nothing fantastic or earth shattering, but enjoyable. "
— Melissa, 1/19/2014" Interesting concepts. "Supernatural romance"... hmmm. From a boy's perspective, even. "
— Martha, 1/17/2014" Pretty good book. Interesting story idea but it was a little slow reading at times. I usually fly through books and this one took me about a week to read. But I really liked the plot. "
— Tanya, 12/26/2013" A wonderful romance/fantasy/historical fiction book. I loved it! "
— Michelle, 11/26/2013" One of the most interesting YA books that I have read in a while! A great mix of genres. "
— Amy, 8/13/2013" This book is very awesome!!!!!!!! "
— Ahshum, 7/17/2013" Hard to follow and get into. "
— Deborah, 6/29/2013" its kind of confusing at parts but otherwise its a really good book! "
— Sharon, 5/25/2013" I gave this one longer than I usually do, because I loved the author's first book: A Certain Slant of Light, but the timeline jumped around too much, and it was just too weird, so I gave up around page 130. "
— Bonnie, 5/1/2013" I didn't finish this book. I got bored with the people and the story, and had to put it aside to maybe (strongly maybe) read it another time. It's not at the top of the list. "
— Jenn, 2/26/2013" It just took too long to get into the book, and then when it was done it was like "that's it?" I just thought it would be more interesting where it was based upon the infamous Anastasia. "
— Dorothy, 12/12/2012" I absolutely loved her first book (A Certain Slant of Light), and this one started out really promisingly, but soon bogged down and got tedious. I was disappointed. It wasn't horrible, it just wasn't great. "
— Melissa, 10/19/2012" not really much of a love story but a lot is going on all the time. I recomend it. "
— Bethany, 5/21/2012" Hmmmm--the cover really hooked me, especially with the tagline "a supernatural romance." Too much Rasputin and not enough romance. This reminded me of that Connie Willis book--Passage--600 pages of wandering through the Titanic. I felt the same frustration of "when is something going to happen?!" "
— Jill, 4/9/2012" I can't remember the ending..... wish I did! "
— Jennifer, 3/18/2012" Tried, but couldn't get into the book. The descriptions are well written, but the characters felt flat to me. If I try reading this again, it'll probably be on an airplane. "
— Rae, 1/26/2012" Not my favorite. Angels should be perfect and the pace really slowed down for me. "
— Angie, 1/10/2012" Normally, it doesn't take me long to finish a book, however this one is slow and definitely not my favorite. I am not sure if I will ever finish it as I find myself not really caring about any of the characters. I'm putting this on hold for now... "
— Heather, 9/17/2011" I can't stand books of this genre but this book was really, really a good read. I read it in one sitting since I couldn't put it down. "
— Mojo8096, 6/13/2011" I freaked out when i realized that the story in this was the Romanov's and that it was Anastasia and Alexis they were talking about. I also felt that you could somewhat believe this book because there has always been conspiracy's because they can't find the bones of these two children. "
— Kaito, 5/6/2011" I Am Barelyy On Chapter 2 nd Byy Dee Timee I Was On Dee 4th Paqqee I Cried Twicee,!!! "
— Brenda, 2/1/2011" I would give this a three and a half stars if I knew how...This book had a very interesting premise, and some fun historical references to the Romanov's and even the British Royal family circa 1914. "
— Karen, 1/25/2011" Tried, but couldn't get into the book. The descriptions are well written, but the characters felt flat to me. If I try reading this again, it'll probably be on an airplane. "
— Rae, 1/9/2011" I was very disappointed after loving her first novel, Certain Slant of Light. I didn't really care to continue reading after the first chapter. I did, however, and it developed a bit better in the adventurous middle. I don't know if I'll recommend it. "
— Holly, 1/1/2011" Good but strange. Expecting your ordinary YA fantasy (with the Fetch who Fetches people at the moment of death and escorts them to heaven) but instead I am plunged into Bolshevik Revolution with Rasputin and Tsar Nicholas... Odd. "
— Emma, 12/17/2010" THIS BOOK WASNT MY FAVORITE OF HER WRITING. IT TOOK ME A LONG TIME. YOU KNOW WHAT I HAD TO DO. I HAD TO SKIM THROUGH IT. THAT BOOK MADE ME DO IT.

PLOT:16/20
CREATIVITY:20/20
WRITING:15/20
CHARACTERS:17/20
ENDING:10/10
COVER:10/10
OVERALL GRADE:88/100=B+ "
