This wonderful creation by GK Chesterton is a familiar favorite to many as a TV series in the 70s with Kenneth More. Chesterton’s other works include The Man Who Knew Too Much. These four stories test Father Brown in many ways creating headaches a plenty. However Father Brown is nothing if not redoubtable and whilst Chesterton’s stories are, in his own words, “very slight and improbable” his method is all his own. Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936) published numerous works which include compilations of his voluminous journalism, novels, biographies, histories, criticism, Christian apologetics, poetry, and plays. Many of his novels have the genuine marks of genius. His books on Dickens (for whom he had a considerable affinity) and Saint Thomas Aquinas are considered classics in their fields.
Bill Wallis has performed in over two hundred radio series and plays, while among his numerous productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company are The Alchemist, The Master Builder, and Twelfth Night. He is also a prolific film and television actor, having made numerous appearances in such productions as Keep the Aspidistra Flying, Midsomer Murders, Bad Girls, Doctors, Poirot, and as Dr. Nick MacKenzie in Dangerfield.
