Publisher Description

“Audacious and terrifying—and uncannily believable.”

—Lee Child

New York Times bestselling author of the Jack Reacher series, Lee Child, was blown away by The Breach—and you will be, too! A novel of unrelenting suspense and nonstop surprises, The Breach immediately rockets author Patrick Lee into the V.I.P. section of the thriller universe. A treat for Jack Bauer (“24”) fans and “X-Files” aficionados, it is a white-knuckle roller-coaster ride that combines the best of Dean Koontz and Michael Crichton with a healthy dollop of Indiana Jones thrown into the mix—the perfect secret agent/government conspiracy/supernatural adventure.

"I am torn between 4 and 5 stars. It's been a while since I read a book with a pace like this. There is no suspense curve - the suspense is just high the entire time. Which sounds perfect, but is tiresome at times. Characters stay shallow. Still, what a ride! I'm excited for volume two."

— Axel (4 out of 5 stars)

Quotes

  • “Audacious and terrifying, uncannily believable.”

    — Lee Child, #1 New York Times bestselling author
  • “It’s all here: brilliantly devious enemies; nifty, innovative gadgets and weaponry; hang-on-to-your-hat action; and razor-sharp plot twists aplenty.”

    — Publishers Weekly (starred review)
  • “Gurner narrates the fast-moving story in a style that gives the plot credibility. His characterizations of both Chase and his love interest are subtle but effective. His calm reading lends additional horror to the graphic descriptions of violence, providing a gripping listen.”

" This book was enjoying to read. More like watching a tv show than reading a book. I liked it enough to buy the 2nd book in the series as well. "

" I enjoyed this book, but it's really confusing. It's time travel but no one does the traveling. It's alien artifacts but the aliens aren't identified. It's government conspiracies and futuristic science...bombs and guns, kidnapping, brainwashing, torture and all sorts of things. Lots of it doesn't make sense, but characters in the book are constantly acknowledging that it doesn't make sense. So you just have to let go of your disbelief and hang on for the ride, from Alaska to Switzerland to Grand Cayman, from the past to the present to the future, with bits of amnesia thrown into the mix. Travis Chase, the steadfast hero, manages to avoid emotional meltdown in situations where anyone, including Conan the Barbarian, would be pounding the ground and screaming. But it's just part of the fun. The heroine, Paige Campbell, is steelier than any heroine and tougher than most gamma heroes. There are an endless number of good guys, bad guys and ordinary citizens of Zurich who get wiped out, mowed down and annihilated. But never mind...it's a good read. Because the plot is so confusing, I don't recommend this for a beach read. You have to try to keep track, even though you won't be able to follow it! "

About Patrick Lee

Patrick Lee was born and raised in west Michigan. He spent four and a half years at a two-year college and wishes he was kidding about that. In his twenties, he sold two screenplays to film studios in Los Angeles, but neither was produced. Who’d have guessed that a modern retelling of Lysistrata, set in a maximum-security prison, would fail to get a greenlight? In his early thirties, Patrick made the jump to writing novels, managed to get the coolest agent in the business, and is now the proud author of several published works.
