“In a word: Brilliant….It left me breathless and awed….Pure exhilaration from the first page to the last.”
—James Rollins, New York Times bestselling author of Altar of Eden
“WOW! Double Wow!...Ghost Country by Patrick Lee will make Asimov and Heinlein cheer with the angels. The techno-thriller meets Sci-Fi, and the result is mind-blowing.”
—Stephen Coonts, New York Times bestselling author of Disciple

"Sometimes I think these stars don't quite do book reviews credit. For instance, I rated "Ghost Country" by Patrick Lee the same as I rated something like "Hunchback of Notre Dame." Are the two books comparable? Not really. One is about 19th century France, inequality, religion, secularity, burgeoning revolution and the eponymous hunchback. The other is about time-travel, shadowy quasi-government cabals of murderous (but very humanely murderous) aid workers. Yep, Doctors Without Borders goes psycho in "Ghost Country." It's also a romp, and I don't use that word often unless I'm talking about my dog trying to eat waves on the beach. This book is just a good time. It never aspires to literature, and that's fine. I enjoined the four or so hours it took me to rush through. It is told with verve, alacrity and that Dan Brown-esque style that begs--no, it demands--you turn the next page. Even when the clock strikes 3 AM, you just have to keep going. And I suppose that deserve four stars in and of itself."

“Starkly original, Ghost Country by Patrick Lee will make Asimov and Heinlein cheer with the angels. The techno-thriller meets sci-fi, and the result is mind-blowing.”
— Stephen Coonts, New York Times bestselling author of Flight of the Intruder“Brilliant...left me breathless and awed.”
— James Rollins, New York Times bestselling author of The Doomsday Key“Settle back and savor this one. Patrick Lee has an intense brand of storytelling. He’s a most welcome addition to the genre.”
— Steve Berry, New York Times bestselling author of The Emperor’s Tomb“Lee has created an excellent setup for a franchise of action thrillers centering on the various alien artifacts that come out of the Breach. The quality of his imagination and his writing marks him as heir-apparent to such science thriller masters as James Rollins and Dean Koontz.”
— Seattle Post-Intelligencer“Lee imaginatively blends a Baldacci-like political tale of betrayals and assassination with time travel in a thoughtful science-fictional thriller.”
— Publishers Weekly“Jeff Gurner’s deep, compelling voice and well-acted presentation are icing on the cake of an adventure that will keep listeners glued to their earphones...Gurner expertly portrays reluctant hero Travis Chase, Paige, and the supporting characters. A great listen.”
— AudioFile" interesting plot with whiny "hero". "
— Michele, 1/27/2014" This one was fair to middling. It had been some time since I read the first novel, so it took me a bit to get up to speed. You can get the plot synopsis elsewhere. I found this to be a light read with a few "oh really" moments. If you like the James Bond movies, you will enjoy it. Good escapism. "
— Shawn, 1/23/2014" A pulse-pounding follow-up to one of my favorite thrillers in recent years. By all means pick up Patrick Lee's The Breach. Heinlein meets Child. "
— Scott, 1/14/2014" good sci-fi story. "
— Martha, 1/13/2014" Second book in the thrilling triology from Patrick Lee. Just as good as his first novel The Breach, but with more action, more suspence & a thrilling story line you simply cannot predict! "
— Laura, 1/8/2014" Terrible writing. "
— Rachael, 1/7/2014" Even better than The Breach. I literally finished this in two days. "
— Ryan, 1/4/2014" A suspenseful read, slow in some sections lightning fast in others. One element of the story line involves time travel. This author's approach to changing the present without changing the future is brilliant! "
— Wendy, 12/26/2013" More of the same great pacing and out-there sci-fi that made The Breach such a good read. "
— Jeremy, 12/10/2013" Slight dip in quality from the first. "
— Wayne, 4/2/2013" Excellent book! Read "The Breach" first then this follow up. Excellent author and excellent storyline. "
— Jeffrey, 12/30/2012" It was fast-paced, entertaining thriller. But the first book "The Breach" was much more captivating. "
— Sorawit, 9/15/2012" Ok, I thought the first one was good but kind of a "boy book" but this one was even better and not a boy book at all. Great mix of thriller, science fiction, character development, intriguing personal motivation...very good. "
— Francesca, 9/1/2012" This book and "the Breach" were fun, a nice break from some of the more serious stuff I've been working my way through. "
— Lochsevn, 8/3/2012" I love this small series. I am so so sad it's over. I want more. "
— Patrick, 7/4/2012" Breakneck action thriller! "
— Mark, 6/30/2012" This is antly written book, I really enjoyed it. I won't spoil it here, but... what would you do if given a glimpse of the future - and you saw the end of the world? "
— Schweighsr, 3/21/2012" Of the three in the series, this is the best. Sci-fi writing at its near-best. "
— Omar, 8/31/2011" Another good installment by Patrick Lee. Another story where you can't stop reading because you want to see what happens next. "
— Chad, 4/7/2011" If it's even possible, more riveting than the first one (The Breach). I literally could not put it down. Plausible, but chilling...Lee is a master of suspense and plot weaving :) "
— Katy, 3/29/2011" just finished. Captivating...couldn't put it down. Took just a few days -- as hubby said...great sci fi "
— Ally, 3/29/2011" I've read The Breach as well, and I enjoyed this book even more. The characters are so real you worry what is going to happened when they are in danger. The ending on this book was much more satisfying than The Breach as well. I'll be following this series and eagerly awaiting the next book. "
— Jill, 3/12/2011" I really enjoyed The Breach, book 1 in this series, but Ghost Country was amazing! Speculative fiction at its best, it kept me guessing & reading frantically; I wish I had started it on a weekend, so I could have read it straight through. "
— Carolyn, 3/11/2011" A pulse-pounding follow-up to one of my favorite thrillers in recent years. By all means pick up Patrick Lee's The Breach. Heinlein meets Child. "
— Scott, 3/9/2011" not as well-constructed as the breach, it was still a fast and fun read that keep almost constant forward momentum. plus, i like i happy ending. "
— Heather, 3/7/2011" A very good read. I normally don't read sci-fi, but once started on this one, it was hard to put down. Some loose ends not tied up at the end, but maybe it is because I read this one before the first in the series, called "The Breach". "
— Rosie, 3/6/2011" Not quite as good as the first book "the breach" but almost, just almost. "
— Scott, 2/25/2011" A fast, intense read with a fascinating premise. Plenty of action and suspense, with a science fiction feel to it--think Michael Crichton. "
— Weldon, 2/24/2011Patrick Lee was born and raised in west Michigan. He spent four and a half years at a two-year college and wishes he was kidding about that. In his twenties, he sold two screenplays to film studios in Los Angeles, but neither was produced. Who’d have guessed that a modern retelling of Lysistrata, set in a maximum-security prison, would fail to get a greenlight? In his early thirties, Patrick made the jump to writing novels, managed to get the coolest agent in the business, and is now the proud author of several published works.
Jeff Gurner created the title role in the American premiere of A Prayer for Owen Meany at Playmakers Rep. He has appeared in productions on and off Broadway such as The Lion King, Five Course Love, The London Cuckolds, and Harrigan & Hart. His film and television credits include Law & Order: SVU, Third Watch, and Hey Joel!, an animated series for VHI.
