"Mitch Rapp is not in this book but you learn a lot of backround and catch a glimpse of the under belly of Washington politics. A senator who values his own power and causes the deaths of many military men. Two other corrupt politions are expertly killed Black Ops style. Director Stansfield of the CIA and his second in command, Irene Kennedy of the counter terrorism division, and FBI Director Roach are called in to investigate. Multiple questions arise such as..Is the President behind the killings?..How will the White House spin the public? This book shows the reader Washington as a place of distrust, dishonor, duplicity, hypocrisy and murder. It will make even the most loyal of government affairs think twice about the quality of people running this country."

— Kirkus Reviews" I don’t know where to begin. Awesome? Incredible? Riveting? Captivating? No words are adequate. Vince Flynn took the Politics out of Politics. He crafted a GREAT story with incredible characters in a Political Thriller that focuses on Right vs Wrong with no mention of Left/Right, Red/Blue, Conservative/Liberal or Republican/Democrat. This is, without a doubt, one of the best books I’ve ever had. I will read every single story in Vince Flynn wheelhouse. Do yourself a favor. Download Term Limits today! "
— JmBlck, 9/22/2024" What can be said about the works by Vince Flynn that have not already been said. his books are always well written keeping the reader or listener on the edge of their seats. This will be the same review for each of his books as that is my honest opinion. Just saving my fingers with copy and paste. "
— mark, 8/28/2020" I have to admit: it was not till chapter 8 or 9 that I realized Mitch Rapp was not featured in this novel. Kennedy, Coleman & Stansbury were there - and being a Vince Flynn novel - I assumed Mitch would enter at any time. Wrong... The story was good. It reveals the underside of DC politics - almost as gross as Rapp's killings! Story line was almost believable - and not far from what should occur. I was glad no legal actions were taken against Coleman et. al., but felt that was a stretch - no "good" dead goes unpunished! Narration was OK. Genders and accents were believable, but narrator seemed stilted, at times, as if he were reading and not performing. Most of the time, he was fine, though. "
— Neil, 8/18/2017" I love this book. I don't want to offer any spoilers but it is in essence about a small group that forces the US Government back into being accountable to its citizens and not controlled by special interests. This is my first read of Flynn's work, and I was pleasantly surprised. He really digs into his subject matter, much in the same way that Tom Clancy does. In fact, he reminds me of Tom Clancy and Dan Silva in this regard. Pretty amazing at what he can uncover. Good tempo that keeps you reading. "
— Bruce, 2/6/2014" Again,I want a 1/2 star for a 1 1/2 rating. I can't believe I read the entire book. Just like Tom Clancy's first, this book was in dire need of an editor who would cut it in half. Athriller isn't supposed to drag or be repetitive. And the characters were one dimensional at best. And it was really a right wing screed to the nth degree. Sigh. I am now reading Transfer of Power. i'm trying to figure out Flynn's weird use of time in telling stories. That is fascinating. This first book, had it been my intro to him, would have been the last. "
— Katherine, 2/4/2014" This author is definitely going to be added to my list of "favorites". It was a great story, fast moving, kind of book you do not want to put down until finished.I still like Clancy, but; his are a slower read. "
— Mary, 2/2/2014" Considering that Rush Limbaugh had a quote on the cover, I was a bit skeptical, but fortunately the author keeps the book completely non-partisan. Although the demands made by the main group in the book is to balance the budget and cut spending, they at least include in there to cut defense spending. Reminds me of the show 24. Good political suspense/adventure novel. "
— Rob, 1/31/2014" My first non-Mitch Rapp Vince Flynn book. I couldn't put it down! "

— Joyce, 12/6/2013" For a first book by an author this is a great book. I read this book over several days, and could not put it down, which is unusual for me. This is a fast paced and entertaining read, and got me hooked on Flynn's books. "
— Walt, 11/23/2013" Even though Mitch Rapp is not the hero in this one, its one of my favorite Vince Flynn books. Sadly it would be nice if this was non-fiction so our politicians could be scared into doing what's right for our country instead of pursuing selfish ambition and party politics. "
— Eric, 10/13/2013" Very entertaining and at the same time makes you ask the question... "What if?" "
— Daniel, 6/4/2013" great book--great idea--too bad it'll never happen. it would be great to clear out some deadwood in Washington DC "
— Peggy, 5/14/2013" Sweet intense book about black operations and governments gone bad. I've read this entire series and am reading them again to get ready for the latest book that I got for Christmas! "
— Nikki, 3/24/2013" An interesting fictional novel, my use of fictional is in reference to a politician with integrity(congressman O'Rourke). A worthwhile read that you won't be upset you devoted time to read. "
— Jeremy, 10/17/2012" Don't agree with some of the methods used in the book to remove dishonest politicians, but this 10+ year old book is very appropriate reading for today's political climate. "
— Dennis, 10/7/2012" By chapter 3 or so, whenever the main character was introduced, I knew I was going to like this book. This was recommended to me by a coworker and my book has been passed around to at least another 3-4-5 people - all of whom have really liked it. Yeah - this is good! "
— H., 7/2/2012" If you need a book to hold your attention in airports, on planes or trains...this is it. Categorized as "A Thriller" it was full of suspense, murder, intrigue, a touch of romance and hair-raising/page-turning situations. I devoured this book. "
— Janis, 5/17/2012" Outstanding book. How can anyone not like Vince Flynn? "
— John, 3/16/2012" This good was good for me, but not fabulous. I enjoyed reading something of a different genre and it wasn't too technically involved for me. There was a little bit of bad language, fyi. "
— Katrina, 2/1/2012" Need to make this a movie NOW. "
— Pastormike, 12/19/2011" Great book lots of fun and suspense. "
— Rick, 10/12/2011" Bad people killed in the gov?t "
— Dan, 4/27/2011" Liked it very much. It started me to read all of Vince Flynn's "
— Douglas, 4/24/2011" This book was really fun, especially because it is different than what I usually read. "
— Wade, 4/14/2011" Excellent start. Ending not quite as good, but overall the book was a fun read. "
— Thardcastle, 4/11/2011" Guys get "ahold" of yourselves. This book is not that good. I see the point of out of control congressmen wasting hard earned freedom without regard. Too drawn out...made up words...poor grammar. Just could have been better. Think I'm finally done with Vince Flynn. "
— Adam, 4/10/2011" Very intense and fast paced. It was a tad long (but not in an extraneous way), but otherwise a great read! "
— Kona, 4/5/2011" My very favorite Vince Flynn novel! "
— Lefox, 3/19/2011" Truly awful. Good for an ad-hoc napkin. "
— Lee, 3/12/2011" A quick read for the airplane - good plot but not particularly well written. Actually 2 1/2 stars but I was feeling generous. Didn't actually finish but it's not worth it. Time for something new. "
