Sometimes, we fall in love on mission trips even though we know we’ll break up when we get back. Sometimes, you have to shot block a friend’s prayer because she’s asking God to bless an obviously bad dating relationship. Sometimes, you think, “I wish I had a t-shirt that said ‘I direct deposit my tithe’ so people wouldn’t judge me.” Sometimes, the stuff that comes with faith is funny. This is that stuff. Jonathan Acuff’s Stuff Christians Like is your field guide to all things Christian. You’ll learn the culinary magic of the crock-pot. Think you’ve got a Metro worship leader—use Acuff’s checklist. Want to avoid a prayer handholding faux pas? Acuff has you covered. Like a satirical grenade, Acuff brings us the humor and honesty that galvanized more than a million online readers from more than 200 countries in a new portable version. Welcome to the funny side of faith.

"This book is a tongue-in-cheek view of how Christians act at church and elsewhere. It ends on a somewhat serious note for someone so silly throughout the book, so don't be too surprised by that. What a funny book. This is great for a car ride or plane ride. Just try not to laugh too loudly. :)"

" Hilarious. If you can't laugh at this stuff, you have to cry. "
— Kerri, 2/6/2014" It was kind of offensive at times. I took it fine because it felt like I was laughing at myself and like someone wrote down what I always thought but couldn't exactly describe. I enjoyed it a lot, but it's not a book to share with everyone. "
— Aimee, 2/4/2014" Very funny if you grew up in the church...so many "oh man, I know exactly what he's talking about" moments. Guilty of many myself! Definitely recommend to my friends who enjoy a bit of sarcasm "
— Lindsay, 1/28/2014" Some parts of this book were really funny and more universal to Christian culture. Parts I did not enjoy were stuff that Christians who attend mega-type churches like. Two examples are the metrosexual music minister and altar calls. The author seems to take a neutral stance on these things, but I don't necessarily agree. He points them out as funny, but I think he misses the bigger point because he doesn't actually see anything wrong with them. The last chapter has a more serious tone to it, which just felt really awkward and out-of-place in this book. "
— Emily, 1/18/2014" A humurous look at Christian culture. "
— Eileen, 1/11/2014" I've had to read this book in small doses. Parts of it are hilarious, other parts I feel are taking it a little to the extreme. If you read this book, you have to keep in mind it is satire! "
— Maggie, 1/5/2014" love the book; love the blog. The author is a Christian so while this is a sarcastic look at Christians, he's not attacking. I can't tell you the number of times I laughed out loud or groaned as I recognized myself. "
— Lauri, 12/31/2013" Loved reading a little strangeness every day. Gotta share this one. "
— Melanie, 12/5/2013" Sarcastic and very funny whether you're a christian or not. "
— Serge, 11/1/2013" Very funny and at points convicting. "
— Mike, 9/13/2013" This is the funniest book I've read all year...I can't wait to blog about it next week! "
— Julie, 9/9/2013" Funny stuff worth a laugh, but only in snippets. Acuff devote a few sections at the end that are constructive to Christians today. It'd be good as a book that sits on an end table or in the bathroom. "
— Ryan, 4/16/2013" Best.Book.Ever. Awesome way to discuss faith, and I would recommend this book to anyone. It's Hilarious! "
— Benjamin, 4/10/2013" A very funny but true outlook on Christians and the Christian faith. "
— Kristina, 3/19/2013" The best part of this book is the illustrations. Those alone are worth the cover price. "
— Jonathan, 12/23/2012" All over the map. Some was really good and some wasn't. "
— Job, 12/17/2012" After going to school at a Christian college, a lot of my experience was reflected in this book. Fun to pick up and read a few pages at a time, although I did eventually read the whole thing. From side hugs to mission trip romance-- it's all here, with a sense of humor. "
— Mandy, 10/31/2012" This has got to be one of the funniest books I have ever read. "
— Will, 7/27/2012" The author is a mainstream, contemporary Christian, but the book is too funny. I laughed out loud several times, especially the part about men crying in church. "
— J., 2/28/2012" I grew up in church, so this book really hit home. I drove my family crazy laughing while reading this book. "
— Doug, 5/25/2011" Entertaining satire on Christians. Though I prefer the blog format. "
— Jason, 4/7/2011" Hilarious! I am still flipping through it. "
— Alyssa, 4/5/2011" The funniest book ever. Laughed until I cried. Yet, it also makes great points about living as a Christian! They should put these with the Gideon bibles in every hotel room! "
— Angela, 4/3/2011" A humurous look at Christian culture. "
— Eileen, 3/18/2011" I grew up in church, so this book really hit home. I drove my family crazy laughing while reading this book. "
— doug, 3/7/2011" Very easy read. It's just funny and sort of a comic relief for when the church becomes too much. Just a reminder that sometimes it's easier to laugh about it then to get upset. "
— Tiphanie, 3/7/2011" I found myself laughing out loud when I was all alone. This book is especially funny having grown up in the church...Kinda convicting too which is a good thing. We Christians do some pretty ridiculous things. "
— Sara, 2/20/2011" Hilarious. If you can't laugh at this stuff, you have to cry. "
— Kerri, 2/15/2011" Very funny! Take the jokes with a grain of salt and there is some truth found in this book. Also Jon has a great blog, check it out. "
— Karen, 2/3/2011" Hilarious. I read many of the portions out loud to the rest of the family today which had us gasping for breath while laughing. "
— Lady, 1/28/2011" I like so far. It's funny. "
