Publisher Description

An epic of awesome power from Terry Goodkind, the second installment of the bestselling series A Sword of Truth

Kahlan has at last gained the one goal she had always thought was beyond her grasp ... love. Against all odds, the ancient bonds of secret oaths, and the dark talents of men long dead, Richard has won her heart.

Amid sudden and disastrous events, Richard's life is called due to satisfy those treacherous oaths. To save his life, Kahlan must forsake Richard's love and cast him into the chains of slavery, knowing there could be no sin worse than such a betrayal.

Richard is determined to unlock the secrets bound in the magic of ancient oaths and to again be free. Kahlan, alone with the terrible truth of what she has done, must set about altering the course of a world thrown into war. But even that may be easier than ever winning back the heart of the only man she will ever love.

War, suffering, torture, and deceit lie in their paths, and nothing will save them from a destiny of violent death, unless their courage and faith are joined with luck and they find the elusive...Stone of Tears.

"I consider Terry Goodkind books to be highly recommended. The author uses good characters and great story line and you can tell he has put much thought into his work. The world and fantasy concepts are original. The villains are excellent and often frighteningly realistic, at least, as realist as it gets for fantasy and you can tell that the author draws many parallels to situations in history and now in our own world. " Wow, wow, wow! That's all I can say. This 2nd book has hooked me on the series even more; even though the task of reading 9 more 1000 pg or so books does seem daunting! Mr. Goodkind has a fascinatingly miraculous way of weaving many intricate story lines and plot twists into one dang good book! "

" A pretty good read. The only problem is that a decent number of the scenes have a feel of "invented on the spot." It seems that Goodkind at times just invents something that Richard can magically do and ZABLAM! He knows how to do it. I understand that it's been said that he's been a quick learner numerous times; however, it just borders on absurd how many times his "quick learning" leads to an all too useful quickening of the plot. Maybe the book would have been better split into two volumes and extended, but what do I know? "

" lots of blood and guts. I found that the story was about a male with special powers he hasn't realized yet. Women of light and women of darkness trying to dominate him with collars. reminded me alot of Wheel of Time "

" This series has given me a greater and better insight of the show "The Legend Of The Seeker". Like the series of books much better then the TV show. The one thing about the TV show was it gave faces to the caricatures in the book. "
