In Wizard's First Rule, Richard Cypher's world was turned upside down. Once a simple woods guide, Richard was forced to become the Seeker of Truth, to save the world from the vile dominance of Darken Rahl, the most viciously savage and powerful wizard the world had ever seen. He was joined on this epic quest by his beloved Kahlan, the only survivor among the Confessors, who brought a powerful but benevolent justice to the land before Rahl's evil scourge. Aided by Zedd, the last of the wizards who opposed Rahl, they were able to cast him into the underworld, saving the world from the living hell of life under Rahl. But the veil to the underworld has been torn, and Rahl, from beyond the veil, begins to summon a sinister power more dreadful than any he has wielded before. Horrifying creatures escape through the torn veil, wreaking havoc on the unsuspecting world above. If Rahl isn't stopped, he will free the Keeper itself, an evil entity whose power is so vast and foul that once freed, it can never again be contained. Download and start listening now!

" I consider Terry Goodkind books to be highly recommended. The author uses good characters and great story line and you can tell he has put much thought into his work. The world and fantasy concepts are original. The villains are excellent and often frighteningly realistic, at least, as realist as it gets for fantasy and you can tell that the author draws many parallels to situations in history and now in our own world. " Wow, wow, wow! That's all I can say. This 2nd book has hooked me on the series even more; even though the task of reading 9 more 1000 pg or so books does seem daunting! Mr. Goodkind has a fascinatingly miraculous way of weaving many intricate story lines and plot twists into one dang good book! "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Ross | 1/13/2014

" A pretty good read. The only problem is that a decent number of the scenes have a feel of "invented on the spot." It seems that Goodkind at times just invents something that Richard can magically do and ZABLAM! He knows how to do it. I understand that it's been said that he's been a quick learner numerous times; however, it just borders on absurd how many times his "quick learning" leads to an all too useful quickening of the plot. Maybe the book would have been better split into two volumes and extended, but what do I know? "

" lots of blood and guts. I found that the story was about a male with special powers he hasn't realized yet. Women of light and women of darkness trying to dominate him with collars. reminded me alot of Wheel of Time "

" 2nd installment of the series, the plot thickens, literally, as the main character learns more of his past and things intertwine with people from his home village. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Peggy | 10/26/2013

" This series has given me a greater and better insight of the show "The Legend Of The Seeker". Like the series of books much better then the TV show. The one thing about the TV show was it gave faces to the caricatures in the book. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Mark Godden | 9/9/2013

" Game of Thrones meets Lord of the Rings. A mix of action, adventure, love and fantasy. Mix in a few twists and comedy and you have a thoroughly enjoyable book. It has certainly left me wanting to read the rest of the series. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Heather Carouth | 8/21/2013

" What is it about these books? They are good but somehow tedious, hard to explain. I'm taking a break from the series for now but I do want to keep trudging through it. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Stacey | 8/19/2013

" This second book was just as hard to put down as the first. The down side is when it came to elaborating more on a couple of characters side stories and what exactly happened it seem to go back to anther character instead. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Sarah | 10/14/2011

" I actually listened to this on audiobook while doing housework or yoga, and was able to skip a couple of promiscuous parts. Fun story, a few more "Aha" moments than in the first one. Some derivation here from the Wheel of Time (though subtle). "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Patrice | 6/28/2011

" the first book was better in my opinion. The numerous plots or story lines that were introduced in the beginning was a bit confusing and weary at first, but when they began to join it was ok I guess. "
