A publishing event: #1 New York Times best-selling author Terry Goodkind turns in a new direction and delivers a stunningly original thriller.

Turning twenty-seven may be terrifying for some, but for Alex, a struggling artist living in the midwestern United States, it is cataclysmic. Inheriting a huge expanse of land should have made him a rich and happy man; but something about this birthday, his name, and the beautiful woman whose life he just saved, has suddenly made him—and everyone he loves—into a target. A target for extreme and uncompromising violence.

In Alex, Terry Goodkind brings to life a modern hero in a whole new kind of high-octane thriller.

" Loved the use of relation to characters from his sword of truth series. Made me wanting more from this great author. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Emma | 2/17/2014

" Awesome book! Very captivating and a great thriller with a blustery love story incorporated. Definitely recommend to people who enjoy a good action boo! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Mary Everson | 2/15/2014

" Read through this quickly and enjoyed however I wish I would have re-read the Sword of Truth series first. Although it can stand alone, there are references to events within the other series. This is not Terry Goodkind's best, but it's a solid story if you're a fan. It's based in current culture and not medieval fantasy so if you're looking for pure fantasy, this isn't the story for you. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Pam | 2/9/2014

" I loved the parallels with Bible Prophecy in this one. I read this one with great interest due to the birthdate of the 'messiah'. Fun read that took me a short time to read. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jc | 1/15/2014

" I really liked this book! It was a Stephen King length, Dean Koontz creepy type of read where you're constantly wondering if the main character is ever going to get out of his current jam. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Toni | 1/10/2014

" Page turning original supernatural thriller. Had a few plot discrepancies, but otherwise an enjoyable read. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Hayley | 12/15/2013

" Way, way, way better than I had anticipated. The synopsis does not do it justice. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Karla | 12/1/2013

    " So-So, Trilogy #1, still plan to read #2... "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Bret Hoffmeier | 10/28/2013

" This was a good read for me, but not as good as the authors "Sword of Truth" series, even though it ties to that series. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Heather | 10/12/2013

" This book started out like a roller coaster and stayed that way till the end. However, I was expecting something totally different from his previous books. It felt a little rushed and the characters weren't fully developed. It was good for an entertaining read, though.... "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Marquis Syler | 10/7/2013

" Did the audio book and enjoyed the story. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Suevw | 8/27/2013

" well honestly I only started this and was very disappointed - guess I am just not a scifi fantasy reader - tho I LOVED the rings??? go figure - might try another author later "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Mia | 7/25/2013

" Eh... the writing was a bit cardboardy and the main character was completely unbelievable, one day he's an artist, the next day he's an assassin who can snap people's necks? "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Adam Santo | 6/3/2013

" A good book. I have to wonder where the author is going with it if there is to be more. It has a tie-in to a previous series that hooked me to this book. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jill | 5/3/2013

" Didn't like this one as much as the rest of the Sword of Truth series. It was still good, but seemed too easy to read, when I really like the depth that the Sword of Truth series has. "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Megan | 3/1/2013

" Seemed a bit like a rip-off of Zelazny. I didn't make it through. Go read Amber series instead. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jeanie Jackson | 10/30/2012

" I was thrilled when I found that Terry Goodkind had brought his work into the 21st century. I missed my old friends. While the time and place changes the feel, quality writing is still quality writing. Hope this is a series. "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Cindy Bravo | 5/16/2012

" This book, though at first intriguing and a definite connection to Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" series, really wasn't very good. It can't stand by itself. It was good to reconnect with the plot and ideas that Goodkind left off with in his final book, but that is about it. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Valkyrie | 4/10/2012

" This was a good science fiction book. It was far fetched, but it is science fiction after all "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Roshio | 9/28/2011

" Quite disappointed actually as I'm a big fan of Terry Goodkind's sword of truth series. The writing really sucked in my opinion and the story itself could have taken 100 pages to tell. There were some cool parts but in the end it had to make myself read it all. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Roni | 8/8/2011

" I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up this book. I had tired of "seeker" series a few years ago, so was a little unsure as to whether this book would be worth my time. I totally enjoyed the modern twist Terry Goodkind used. Was sad to get to the end! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jack Alexander | 6/30/2011

" I liked the general idea of this book. But it wasn't a new idea and it was that well told. But it wasn't bad. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Mario | 5/24/2011

" Great story that ties in Mr. Goodkind's series with our Earth. So good in fact that I'm currently re-reading it :) "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Ashlee | 5/9/2011

" Big disappointment compared to Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Jake | 5/6/2011

" Audio Book. It was pretty good. I didn't know it was related to the sword of truth series but it kind of was. I hope it becomes a series "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Liz | 5/5/2011

" much better than the books Goodkind wrote after Temple of the Winds "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Dee | 4/23/2011

" The story was okay, but he seemed to repeat himself a lot. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Chastity | 4/22/2011

" 3.5 Stars. I am still reading the Sword of Truth series (currently on book 5) and this story is basically a contemporary/modern version of the same story--which is still fun and lovable! :-) I guess, why fix it if it isn't broken, right?

    "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Rick | 4/17/2011

" A modern day story about descendents of people from the Sword of Truth novels who escaped into our world. A very good book and I'm hoping it's the start of another series. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Liam | 4/15/2011

" Preet good book. I like this spin-off, but it doesn't have the same depth as the Sword of Truth series. Still nice book to whittle a way a couple of hours "
