"3.5 Stars. I am still reading the Sword of Truth series (currently on book 5) and this story is basically a contemporary/modern version of the same story--which is still fun and lovable! :-) I guess, why fix it if it isn't broken, right? "

" Read through this quickly and enjoyed however I wish I would have re-read the Sword of Truth series first. Although it can stand alone, there are references to events within the other series. This is not Terry Goodkind's best, but it's a solid story if you're a fan. It's based in current culture and not medieval fantasy so if you're looking for pure fantasy, this isn't the story for you. " I loved the parallels with Bible Prophecy in this one. I read this one with great interest due to the birthdate of the 'messiah'. Fun read that took me a short time to read. "

" I really liked this book! It was a Stephen King length, Dean Koontz creepy type of read where you're constantly wondering if the main character is ever going to get out of his current jam. "

" This book started out like a roller coaster and stayed that way till the end. However, I was expecting something totally different from his previous books. It felt a little rushed and the characters weren't fully developed. It was good for an entertaining read, though.... "

" Eh... the writing was a bit cardboardy and the main character was completely unbelievable, one day he's an artist, the next day he's an assassin who can snap people's necks? "

" I was thrilled when I found that Terry Goodkind had brought his work into the 21st century. I missed my old friends. While the time and place changes the feel, quality writing is still quality writing. Hope this is a series. "

" This book, though at first intriguing and a definite connection to Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" series, really wasn't very good. It can't stand by itself. It was good to reconnect with the plot and ideas that Goodkind left off with in his final book, but that is about it. "

" Quite disappointed actually as I'm a big fan of Terry Goodkind's sword of truth series. The writing really sucked in my opinion and the story itself could have taken 100 pages to tell. There were some cool parts but in the end it had to make myself read it all. "

" I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up this book. I had tired of "seeker" series a few years ago, so was a little unsure as to whether this book would be worth my time. I totally enjoyed the modern twist Terry Goodkind used. Was sad to get to the end! "
