"3.5 Stars. I am still reading the Sword of Truth series (currently on book 5) and this story is basically a contemporary/modern version of the same story--which is still fun and lovable! :-) I guess, why fix it if it isn't broken, right? "
— Chastity (4 out of 5 stars)
" Awesome book! Very captivating and a great thriller with a blustery love story incorporated. Definitely recommend to people who enjoy a good action boo! "
— Emma, 2/17/2014" Loved the use of relation to characters from his sword of truth series. Made me wanting more from this great author. "
— Dawn, 2/17/2014" Read through this quickly and enjoyed however I wish I would have re-read the Sword of Truth series first. Although it can stand alone, there are references to events within the other series. This is not Terry Goodkind's best, but it's a solid story if you're a fan. It's based in current culture and not medieval fantasy so if you're looking for pure fantasy, this isn't the story for you. "
— Mary, 2/15/2014" I loved the parallels with Bible Prophecy in this one. I read this one with great interest due to the birthdate of the 'messiah'. Fun read that took me a short time to read. "
— Pam, 2/9/2014" I really liked this book! It was a Stephen King length, Dean Koontz creepy type of read where you're constantly wondering if the main character is ever going to get out of his current jam. "
— Jc, 1/15/2014" Page turning original supernatural thriller. Had a few plot discrepancies, but otherwise an enjoyable read. "
— Toni, 1/10/2014" Way, way, way better than I had anticipated. The synopsis does not do it justice. "
— Hayley, 12/15/2013" So-So, Trilogy #1, still plan to read #2... "
— Karla, 12/1/2013" This was a good read for me, but not as good as the authors "Sword of Truth" series, even though it ties to that series. "
— Bret, 10/28/2013" This book started out like a roller coaster and stayed that way till the end. However, I was expecting something totally different from his previous books. It felt a little rushed and the characters weren't fully developed. It was good for an entertaining read, though.... "
— Heather, 10/12/2013" Did the audio book and enjoyed the story. "
— Marquis, 10/7/2013" well honestly I only started this and was very disappointed - guess I am just not a scifi fantasy reader - tho I LOVED the rings??? go figure - might try another author later "
— Suevw, 8/27/2013" Eh... the writing was a bit cardboardy and the main character was completely unbelievable, one day he's an artist, the next day he's an assassin who can snap people's necks? "
— Mia, 7/25/2013" A good book. I have to wonder where the author is going with it if there is to be more. It has a tie-in to a previous series that hooked me to this book. "
— Adam, 6/3/2013" Didn't like this one as much as the rest of the Sword of Truth series. It was still good, but seemed too easy to read, when I really like the depth that the Sword of Truth series has. "
— Jill, 5/3/2013" Seemed a bit like a rip-off of Zelazny. I didn't make it through. Go read Amber series instead. "
— Megan, 3/1/2013" I was thrilled when I found that Terry Goodkind had brought his work into the 21st century. I missed my old friends. While the time and place changes the feel, quality writing is still quality writing. Hope this is a series. "
— Jeanie, 10/30/2012" This book, though at first intriguing and a definite connection to Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" series, really wasn't very good. It can't stand by itself. It was good to reconnect with the plot and ideas that Goodkind left off with in his final book, but that is about it. "
— Cindy, 5/16/2012" This was a good science fiction book. It was far fetched, but it is science fiction after all "
— Valkyrie, 4/10/2012" Quite disappointed actually as I'm a big fan of Terry Goodkind's sword of truth series. The writing really sucked in my opinion and the story itself could have taken 100 pages to tell. There were some cool parts but in the end it had to make myself read it all. "
— Roshio, 9/28/2011" I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up this book. I had tired of "seeker" series a few years ago, so was a little unsure as to whether this book would be worth my time. I totally enjoyed the modern twist Terry Goodkind used. Was sad to get to the end! "
— Roni, 8/8/2011" I liked the general idea of this book. But it wasn't a new idea and it was that well told. But it wasn't bad. "
— Jack, 6/30/2011" Great story that ties in Mr. Goodkind's series with our Earth. So good in fact that I'm currently re-reading it :) "
— Mario, 5/24/2011" Big disappointment compared to Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. "
— Ashlee, 5/9/2011" Audio Book. It was pretty good. I didn't know it was related to the sword of truth series but it kind of was. I hope it becomes a series "
— Jake, 5/6/2011" Compelling and reminiscent of the Sword of Truth series. Cant wait for the next one! "
— Liz, 5/5/2011" much better than the books Goodkind wrote after Temple of the Winds "
— Hawklan, 4/27/2011" The story was okay, but he seemed to repeat himself a lot. "
— Dee, 4/23/2011" A modern day story about descendents of people from the Sword of Truth novels who escaped into our world. A very good book and I'm hoping it's the start of another series. "
— Rick, 4/17/2011" Preet good book. I like this spin-off, but it doesn't have the same depth as the Sword of Truth series. Still nice book to whittle a way a couple of hours "
