Publisher Description

Popular inspirational novelists Lynn Morris and Gilbert Morris pen absorbing plots rich with adventure and historical detail. In this exciting tale, they portray one woman's search for independence and self-expression amid the rigid social expectations of 1865 New York City.

Twenty-four-year-old Cheney Duvall believes she will be taken seriously once she finishes medical school. Months later, however, she still is without a position; no one wants to consult a woman doctor. When she hears of a shipload of hopeful brides-to-be bound for Seattle via the Panama Canal, however, her luck changes. The ship's authorities are eager to have a woman physician on board. But once Cheney meets the 100 women - and her disturbing male nurse assistant - she fears she has gotten in way over her head.

Father-daughter writing team Lynn Morris and Gilbert Morris combine their talents to provide first-class entertainment with nourishment for the soul. Narrator Kate Forbes' stirring interpretation highlights Cheney's successes and setbacks as she discovers the path to complete self-fulfillment.

"This is the only Inspirational fiction series which I've read and really enjoy. The books take place just after the Civil War and center around Cheney Duvall, a woman from a wealthy family who has become a doctor. The historical details in the series are great, as a historical fiction junkie, I appreciate the rich period details. Though the main plot of the series is the romance between Cheney and her (super hot) assistant Shiloh, the books also contain a lot of adventure elements. Being a Christan series, the god talk can get a little preachy and boring. Luckily Lynn Morris, the author of the series, spends more time developing an interesting story rather than writing a sermon. I recommend this series to anyone who loves fantastic historical fiction."
