Publisher Description

Beloved author and ragamuffin Brennan Manning writes: “These souvenirs of solitude are the love story of my walk with God. Revisiting the lost silences of the past, I remember and record the intimate moments when I allowed the Lord to lure me into the wilderness and speak to my heart.” This book is a series of remembrances that Brennan recorded in the late 1970s. But as with all good remembrances, they have a timeless quality and a value for readers today. Many of the themes that God has made the indelible marks of Brennan’s life are found in this wonderful book. Dominant among those themes is the astonishing, boundless love of God for us.

"Very moving book. I highlighted and wept through most of it. There were a few chapters toward the end that I wasn't too fond of, which were more Catholic-oriented, but otherwise this is a great book that touches your soul and opens your eyes. "

" This is not a book that you read once and put down for all time. It is a book that you pick up time and again to digest what is relevant to your life at the moment. It is full of wisdom, both from life experiences and from Scripture. "

" Pleasant, thought-provoking reading that is easy to read in sections. The 8-day retreat that is advertised with it doesn't amount to much and I wish it could have had more depth. Other than that, however, the content is lovely and encouraging. "
