Very helpful, practical, usable advice and strategies to save money. It has helped us feel happy about money and not stressed."
— Jennifer (5 out of 5 stars)
Smart Couples Finish Rich teaches women and men to work together as a team. Powerful, yet easy to understand.
— Robert T. Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad" This book reminded me in a big way of Bach's Automatic Millionaire along with some fun remarks about marriage and planning things together. It was still a great reminder of all the great information and principles. "
— Jacob, 2/19/2014" This book was great but I read it after I'd already read Smart Women Finish Rich. Smart Couples basically said to do the same thing but do it as a team. Nothing earth shattering. Still good advice. "
— Sara, 2/13/2014" Who wants to read about finances? Boring, right? Well, if we must, David Bach is THE man. I've seen him on Oprah, and reading this book was very educational. He has a great/easy writing style, very conversational and easy to understand. He also adds just the right amount of his personal life story to keep you interested in (at times) not too interesting topics. "
— Candice, 2/6/2014" Recommended by my boyfriend's cousin, a professional financial advisor. The emphasis on in-depth communication and the risk of different assumptions is certainly worthwhile. The rest didn't seem as relevant to my own life and patterns as many of the other financial advice books I've read, however. It really feels like it's for yuppies. There's quite an emphasis on saving for big-ticket expenditures. Which many people do need, but not me right now. And the values project just didn't click, especially such a vague way of defining values. He does address debt and retirement and emergency funds, but not in a new way. If this was the first financial book I'd read, it would probably make more of an impression. "
— Kristen, 1/25/2014" Great book for those looking to learn the basics of investing, retirement funds, life insurance, etc...its even better if you can get past the cheesy anthony robbins tone of the author "
— Chris, 1/23/2014" A great book for couples to get in control over their finances using simple activities to plan, set goals, discuss needs and wants, and organize their filing cabinet. A great family tool. "
— Trent, 1/22/2014" Some good tips, but not always realistic for an actual working family. Always good to learn some things though. "
— Lisa, 1/19/2014" Just started this one and I'm liking it better than Automatic Millionaire. I guess because it has advice that relates a little better to my situation. "
— Katie, 1/15/2014" Same old, same old as far as finance books go ... maybe good for a friend who is getting married and has absolutely no clue about money (as if they would actually read it). "
— Katherine, 1/14/2014" Great for newlyweds trying to figure out financial planning. "
— Melanie, 1/3/2014" A great book for newlyweds and any couple looking to streamline their financial future. Corny title, but accurate. This book also filled in any gaps I had about finance and savings. "
— Brad, 12/10/2013" I read "Smart Women..." and really found it helpful and worth the read. "Smart Couples..." added essentially nothing to my overall knowledge - basically the same principals at play here. That said, I recommend reading one of these to anyone trying to sort through finances. "
— Cari, 12/10/2013" Bach has some great advice about managing your financial future. His organizational tips alone are worth the price of the book. I would highly recommend any of his "blah blahs finish rich" series - the advice is basically the same in all of them, so you can read whatever version best appeals to you. "
— Nicole, 12/6/2013" Average book for basic (101 to 201) level. "
— Viraj, 11/9/2013" my mom gives me lots of books on how to save your money. maybe she should save her money instead of buying me books. seriously though, good tips. This guy copyrighted "the latte factor"- about how a little spending here and there adds up. "
— Xina, 10/27/2013" I really enjoyed this book and used a lot of the techniques it taught in my own family budgeting. "
— Tawni, 8/19/2013" Overall, a great beginner book to personal finance. However, if you've read one David Bach book, you've read them all. "
— Keith, 6/23/2013" I've read a lot of money management books and this one was good in that it had exercises to get me talking with my husband. That was helpful. "
— Sarah, 6/20/2013" very good book to get your finances in order when newly married "
— Sherry, 5/6/2013" I highly recommend this book! It's full of practical tips, worksheets, applicable advice, and useful information. This is a must-read for anyone interested in learning how to save a little more or improve their lifestyle a little bit. "
— Heidi, 12/23/2012" Wedding present that help put things into perspective. I think it was well written for the less economically savy partner. (his other books are redundant after reading one) "
— Catherine, 12/1/2012" Overall I really enjoyed this book and agree with his philosophy. It also helped start some discussions between my husband and I - especially where we see ourselves financially in the long-term. "
— Aubrey, 11/9/2012" Jack and I have applied many of the concepts from this book to how we handle our finances. I am glad that my little brother shared this book with me. "
— Jill, 6/12/2012" I think the first few chapters about communication with your spouse are good, but the rest of the book seems to just be standard advice. If you've read Bach's other books or any other books on the subject, then there is nothing new here. A good beginner book, though. "
— Greg, 5/7/2012" Perhaps my expectations for this book were unreasonably high. I found it educational, but I was hoping for something a little more applicable. If I went to one of Bach's seminars, I get the feeling I would have been able to better apply the lessons and tools contained in the book. "
— Angie, 9/20/2011" A very good, detail-oriented and practical guide to finances for couples. Bach gave a number of straightforward guidelines and I really felt like his approach to "purpose focused" savings and investing made sense to me. "
— Liz, 8/12/2011" This was a good book for novice investors that are wanting to get a game plan for retirement and their future. It did have a few points that an experienced investor can glean as well. "
— Wendy, 6/10/2011" Great for newlyweds trying to figure out financial planning. "
— Melanie, 5/30/2011" Average book for basic (101 to 201) level. "
— Viraj, 5/25/2011" this is a good manual, full of the same advice you'd hear other places (after all, most of personal finance is just common sense). it didn't add much to my understanding, but then i've read quite a few personal finance books. "
— Danielle, 1/14/2011" Love it so far. It is really sparking great conversation between Richard and I regarding our attitudes towards money, and how we both value money in our lives. Looking forward to really hitting the "meat" of the book. "
— Christakoskosky, 10/19/2010" Some good tips, but not always realistic for an actual working family. Always good to learn some things though. "
— Lisa, 9/16/2010" Picked it up cuz it was the closest book to me in a black out. While it is written in a fairly cheesy way, it actually has some pretty sound advice and very practical ways to maintain control of your finances. "
— Bailey, 8/25/2010" Great book for those looking to learn the basics of investing, retirement funds, life insurance, etc...its even better if you can get past the cheesy anthony robbins tone of the author "
— Chris, 6/7/2010" Good Book. It is a little out of date though, but the wisdom and advice are solid. I have now started his 2010 book called "Start Over, Finish Rich" "
— Ken, 4/11/2010" Great tips on investing and ways to save "
