Ordinary sixth-grader Simon Bloom has just made the biggest discovery since gravity–and it literally fell into his lap. Or onto his head, anyway. You see, Simon has found the Teacher’s Edition of Physics, a magical reference book containing the very formulas that control the laws that govern the universe! By reciting the formulas out loud, he’s able to do the impossible–like reverse the force of gravity to float weightlessly, and reduce friction to zoom across any surface! But a book that powerful isn’t safe with Simon for long. Before he knows it, he is being pursued by evil forces bent on gaining control of the formulas. And they’ll do anything to retrieve them. Now, Simon and his friends must use their wits and the magic of science in a galactic battle for the book, and the future of the universe, in this funny, fast-paced science fiction adventure from first-time author Michael Reisman.

"6th-grader Simon Bloom unexpectedly gets the Book of Physics, a uniquely powerful book which allows him to manipulate the laws of physics to control his surroundings. Unfortunately, he is not the only one who wants the Book. And some are willing to kill to do it. Newton's Laws and some space-time theory are thrown in, but in such a way that they enhance the story instead of feeling pedantic. Very well done and enjoyable."

" Although the science part was a little dry for me, this adventure involving a boy who becomes the keeper of a book allowing him to harness the laws of physics would be a great rec. for 5th -6th grade boys. "
— Melissa, 2/9/2014" It was a good book, it's just there was not as much excitement as I would like. But as far as books with Science go, it was not that bad. "

— Theresa, 12/24/2013" I enjoyed this--the characters are funny, the premise is a good one, and you can learn some basic physical principles to boot "
— Catherine, 12/11/2013" This was a fun book to read. It reminded me of the Candy Shop War, but manipulating the laws of physics instead of using candy. Can't wait to read the sequel. "
— Jeanette, 12/2/2013" Highly engaging plot with believable (for SF) characters. Personally I'd like a little more control over the laws of physics, but I'm too lazy to go through what Simon when through... "
