Listener Opinions

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Andrea | 2/4/2014

" It was a rather interesting book. She has placed everything in a very peculiar manner. I found it very interesting to read. Despite the many struggles throughout the book, the conclusion or how the case was unravel was well written and presented brilliantly. I look forward to reading more books by Lynda. "

" Bit slow at first but now having difficulty putting it down! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Monica | 1/18/2014

" A solid, well written procedural. DI Anna Travis is a well drawn character, bright, ambitious, but a bit too much of a loner to make her bosses happy. The case is high visibility and full of unappealing characters, the victim included. Anna's relationship (over, but with lingering after effects) with her brilliant, domineering boss Langton is still complicating things on a personal and professional level. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Vani | 1/11/2014

" I liked her style of writing. The crime solving itself was awesome. The personal story of the detective, not so cool, kinda boring. But the case itself...great! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Gary | 1/10/2014

" Good plot but the principal character remains one that is difficult to like. I just wish the author would let her grow up. "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Arielle | 1/7/2014

" Utterly awful. Review to come. In fact, the only reason I finished this was so that I could write the scathing review this deserves. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Maryellen Woodside | 12/31/2013

" Silent Scream is another great police procedural from La Plante. When film star Amanda Delany is murdered, DI Anna Travis is charged with finding her killer. Anna has some personal issues to work through as well as dealing with a baffling case. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Joanne | 12/30/2013

" Too much came in at the end with this book the characters in between are fleeting & not interesting. If you've never read any of Linda's books it's probably an enjoyable read otherwise for me the style is predictable with Langton keeping my interest throughout. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Dalia | 12/26/2013

" this is better than the previous books in this series but not great. There are pretty much "by the numbers" detective books. "

" La Plante is very good, isn't she? It was refreshing to read a book in which the motive for the killing was comprehensible; a book whose author didn't use gratuitous violence against women to keep the reader's attention. She used plot and character, and used them well. Thank you, Gio! "
