" I enjoyed it. Yes it was a free Kindle book, so I might not have bought it to read, but it was a good chick book. :o) "

" I really like this book. I wasn't overly excited about all the balls and dinner parties and stuff. However, I loved how the story always went back to the fact that God loves us just as we are. And I love the hymn that Clara's mother used to sing before she died. I'm glad that she ended up with Harry... I expected it though. Some parts were a little predictable, but all in all it was a good read. "

" I wish I could give this 4.5 stars. It was a really good read reminiscent of the "Luxe" series, but more enjoyable and lighthearted. I recommend it to anyone who liked this series or is interested in the gilded age of New York City. "

" I do love a good historical fiction romance. Especially the ones with a spiritual message tied into them. This one only had a hint of religion in it and I would have liked to have seen the main character grow a little more through a better relationship with The Lord through her relationship with her more spiritually aware suitor, Harry. "

" Yet another Kindle freebie! As is typical with most "Christian" lit, I had the plot figured out long before the protagonist did. Still, it was an enjoyable read about a woman preparing for her debut in the Victorian era and being none too happy about it. Not too preachy, which was a pleasant surprise. "

" I really liked this story. It started out a little slow and really detailed but then it picked up really quickly. IT was a book I was constantly finding the time to read. I love the moral of the story and the lead character is a strong intelligent woman. Enjoy! "

" HISTORICAL FICTION. Also a romance with some depth. "

" This book starts out a little stiff and slow. When it warms up it becomes much more interesting but I wish I could have seen more of the end (although I know, it is probably better imagined.) "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Kelly Heslip | 7/9/2012

" This is my favorite Siri Mitchell book! You really fall in love with the characters and root for one in particular to get the girl! It is a good Christian romance and has an awesome historical New York setting. "

" Well written. Informative. Interesting. I got a little bored with perhaps one too many dinner parties, but other than that, this is Siri Mitchell at her finest. "

" Hitorical Christian Romance. Loved the book. I learned some things as well as enjoying the story. Very good moral to the story as well. No preaching at all. Very well done. "

" It was so cliche, but I have to admit, I don't really mind it. It heart-breaking times, times of jubilation, and times of anger. I loved it, but it's not really for those who can't stand mushy romance. "

" Wow! This story was great. From the cover I was afraid it would be a really big, steamy romance - but it wasn't! I loved reading about the culture and society back then! Siri did a great job!! "

" A charming and thought-provoking tale about life as a girl in the 1880's. I felt like it showed me how life REALLY was for a young debutante. Well written, romantic, engrossing, occasionally dark, and with some Christian undertones. "

" I really enjoyed this book. It is my favorite time period, so I may be a bit biased. It was full of romance and time period elements that will both intrigue and disgust you. I loved the characters and the classic choice of what is expected of you vs. true love. "

" Out of all of Mitchell's books, this is my favorite. Her accurancy in historical fiction is flawless, and she creates a very real representation of the time period. Her characters are endearing, with layered personalities and motives that make a wonderful story. "
