"There's no way I would've read something like this normally. Never quite got the ITV historical drama with Sean Bean, but my father-in-law recommended it and being a fan of the Flashman books (which does the same 'putting a fictional character into real events' kinda thing) I was willing to give it a go. And I have to say it's blooming marvellous. A rip-roaring read."

" Fantastic read, Sharpe is sooo cool and I just love the books. "
— Ingrid, 2/8/2014" The last Sharpe novel, chronologically, and for me, the most disappointing. The story wasn't as engaging as the earlier stories, and it seems that Bernard Cornwell was just going through the motions with this one. Undoubtedly he is capable of writing much better, and I'm glad that the rest of the Sharpe books were such a pleasure to read. If you've read the previous 20 Sharpe books, then of course you'll read this one as well, and while it's far from being bad, it won't hit you between the eyes like some of the others. "
— Rick, 1/16/2014" full of adventures ,i like it "
— Esraasamir, 1/14/2014" The final Richard Sharpe book, set in 1820 Chile, begins with a meeting with Napolean in his final exile. "
— Nathan, 1/5/2014" Bernard Cornwell brings a good story & History together wonderfully. "
— Stacy, 1/5/2014" A brilliant book telling of life in the navy and life in general as an adventurer during the Napoleonic era. "
— Ria, 11/13/2013" I just love Thomas Cochrane. how sad to have read all the Sharpe books now. "
— Nan, 10/15/2013" Now that I have read all of the books in the series I am sadly wanting for more. The series ended too soon and I want the series to continue. Great books and this lives up to my expectations. This series is a must read! "
— Adam, 9/4/2013" After the Napoleonic wars, the British had a ready-made force that they used to influence world events anywhere they could reach with their navy. One such place was South America, and they did their best to thwart Spanish influence in the 'new world'... "
— Glenn, 9/2/2013" great author who interweaves history into a story that is easily followed and hard to put down "
— Jason, 8/23/2013" The 20th or 21st in the series... a good book but I'm glad I'm through! "
— Greg, 10/1/2012" A nice close to the Sharpe series for those who are wondering how the heck such a soldier could possibly settle down after Waterloo. "
— Jane, 7/27/2012" The Richard Sharpe series is a magnificent work of historical fiction. Bernard Cornwell has written an amazing series following Sharpe from a private in India to a Lt. Colonel at Waterloo and then a civilian farmer. "
— Hazel, 5/22/2012" enjoyed it immensely. Sharpe in South America!! Napoleon rising!! "
— Scott, 12/14/2011" Napoleon is exiled to St Helena and the war in Europe is over. That does not mean that the world is at peace and Richard Sharpe is off to Chile to find a friend lost in a Chilean war for independence from Spain. The last book in the series and it is time to say good bye to Sharpe. Makes me sad. "
— Oleg, 11/6/2011" As usual, Cornwell brings history alive, this time in Chile. Sharpe's Devil is the story of Chilean Admiral Thomas Cochrane's campaign to drive the Spanish out of Chile during its revolution, with Sharpe and Harper's help of course. "
— Bill, 10/19/2011" As usual, Cornwell brings history alive, this time in Chile. Sharpe's Devil is the story of Chilean Admiral Thomas Cochrane's campaign to drive the Spanish out of Chile during its revolution, with Sharpe and Harper's help of course. "
— Bill, 6/26/2011" That's it, after this there are no more. (unless Cornwell takes pity on us and sharpens his pencil - see what I did there?)

Not one of the better stories, although it's nice to get a bit of Sharpe after the whole Peninsular War thing. "
— Sho, 3/26/2011" Love the battle, tactics, camaraderie, and the history. "
— Kathy, 8/30/2010" Very good, slow to start though "
— Richard, 6/27/2010" full of adventures ,i like it "
— Esraasamir, 3/8/2010" The 20th or 21st in the series... a good book but I'm glad I'm through! "
— Mr., 2/1/2010" The final book in the series and one of the best. "
— Ross, 10/19/2009" I just love Thomas Cochrane. how sad to have read all the Sharpe books now. "
— Nan, 10/9/2009" Bernard Cornwell uses his usual blend of wit, excitement and immaculate historical detail to produce a fantastic and entertaining read.

Anyone who likes well-researched, well-written historical fiction MUST read Cornwell! "
— Rachael, 1/2/2009" A brilliant book telling of life in the navy and life in general as an adventurer during the Napoleonic era. "
— Ria, 3/1/2008" After the Napoleonic wars, the British had a ready-made force that they used to influence world events anywhere they could reach with their navy. One such place was South America, and they did their best to thwart Spanish influence in the 'new world'... "
