What do you imagine when you hear the name...Bradbury?

You might see rockets to Mars. Or bizarre circuses where otherworldly acts whirl in the center ring. Perhaps you travel to a dystopian future, where books are set ablaze...or to an out-of-the-way sideshow, where animated illustrations crawl across human skin. Or maybe, suddenly, you're returned to a simpler time in small-town America, where summer perfumes the air and life is almost perfect...almost.

Ray Bradbury - peerless storyteller, poet of the impossible, and one of America's most beloved authors - is a literary giant whose remarkable career spanned seven decades. Now 26 of today's most diverse and celebrated authors offer new short works in honor of the master; stories of heart, intelligence, and dark wonder from a remarkable range of creative artists.

" I didn't have time to write a review before, so I wanted to pop in and say that I had IMMENSE pleasure reading these stories. I'm almost convinced that all writers should routinely try to write like Bradbury. I notice that not only did a number of the writers approach the charge by getting themselves into a fantastical, magical, wondrous, sometimes shuddering and chilling mindset, but they also seemed to draw heavily from memory and personal experience. A highly inspirational volume! "

" As with all books that are collections of short stories, especially by different authors, some of the stories were better than others. Almost all of the stories were very good, but it felt like this took a long time to read (400+ pages, small print). Solid choice for fans of Bradbury or the sci-ifi genre. "

" Eh, this was ok. The stories are pretty uneven. Only for hardcore Bradbury fans. "

" An uneven collection of stories in honor of Ray Bradbury. The biggest names have written the least memorable stories, unfortunately, but the genre writers have often paid homage in a pretty enjoyable story. "

" Love Bradbury, love many of the authors in this collection of short stories which pay homage to him. In the foreword written by Bradbury, he says that he finds many of these stories to be very familiar-feeling. Having read a few of them, I quite agree. "

" Really a wonderful collection of Bradbury-inspired short stories. Makes me want to go back and re-read everything Bradbury wrote. Every story is excellent, without exception, which makes this collection stand out above the average short story collection. I highly recommend this. "

" I enjoyed this, but I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. Some of the stories were great, some were ok (as is the case with most short story collections). What it did most strongly is make me want to go back & read Ray Bradbury stories. "
