"I love LaVyrle Spencer books. This was really good even though the hero and heroine argued throughout most of the book. I can see why Catherine was so cold and standoffish to Clay (even when he tried so hard to be nice to her). I guess that if I loved someone and didn't think they cared for me, I might have acted this way in order to keep from being hurt more (then again, I might have taken what I could get when I could get it!). The only thing that bothered me about Clay was running back to Jill when Catherine threw him out. But, if he hadn't he would have never known the shallowness of the "real" Jill. Anyway, everything worked out in the end."

" Oh My Word...what a great book!!! "
— Jaime, 2/19/2014" The best of her books, sweet and charming. "
— Lynn, 1/31/2014" i agree melissa! when i read this book i found out what a "convertible" sofa was. "
— Diabardo, 1/10/2014" I don't know why online this book but I really do. Clay is so unlikable. He really doesn't make you feel good about their relationship. But for some reason it's a very touching book and I've read it several times. "
— Haley, 1/4/2014" This was my favorite romance novel as a teenatger, I think partially because the male lead is from Edina and it's an interesting commentary on class in Minneapolis. Re-reading it, I was struck by how conservative the politics involved were, and how dated it was, but man did I still enjoy it. "
— Katie, 1/1/2014" LaVyrle Spencer is my favorite historical romance author. This is my favorite story from LS, which is about the clashing of societies: rich & poor. A young 'couple' find themselves in a sticky situation and learn tolerance, respect, and eventually love. It's romance through and through! "
— Marsho, 12/31/2013" Not my favorite storyline but I do love this author! "
— Cheryl, 11/16/2013" A very good read. A story of abuse, building trust and learning to fall in love. "
— Snailbookworm, 11/13/2013" i don't like it, the hero back to the ex so easily and stay at the ex apartment, i feel that i want to punch the hero, the heroine so easily forget and forgive the hero, so weak character. "
— Sweety, 11/2/2013" Hard cover. "
— Laura, 10/25/2013" Did not like this book at all. Felt like the heroin was miserable and did not get attached to her. I could not wait to finish this book as I like to finish what I start. Barf! "
— Melanie, 10/22/2013" The story was very romantic and good! "
— Renata, 5/2/2013" I read this book when it first came out. Loved it then and love it now. There are stories that linger in your heart and this is one of them. It felt to read it again. I wish LaVyrle Spencer would come out of retirement. "
— Lavada, 4/4/2013" One of the very first romances I ever read. I loved it and was hooked! "
— SueAnn, 11/5/2012" I love, love, LOVE this book. In fact, this was the first romance I read - and I was hooked. I've read every one of LaVyrle Spencer's books, and I've never been disappointed. "
— Lynn, 3/6/2012" i have read this book about 10 times. i adore it. "
— Jodi, 2/25/2012" I enjoyed this story, especially seeing Catherine overcome some pretty hefty obstacles. And I loved Clay. All men should have that kind of patience. All in all, a very satisfying love story that I'm glad I read. "
— Laurie, 1/7/2012" bacanya cuma bikin gemes... "
— Nilam, 12/29/2011" My first of her books I've read. "
— Robin, 12/29/2011" This book was given to me at a difficult time in life. It had been many years since I had time to read, but this book lit the candle inside me, and my love of reading. A poingnant story, that reminded me how precious love is and the relationship between a man and wife. "
— Lori, 7/23/2011" There is no mention of when the book was written, so I was guessing as it went on. The colors and the lack of cell phones make me think that it takes place in the 80's. Not sure! The story was strong, even though it was a bit predictable, she brought out wonderful characters and extra bits. "
— Sally, 6/28/2011" Loved this book. Loved the characters. "
— Christina, 1/13/2011" First book to make me cry. "
— Gemma, 1/12/2011" LOVE IT!! It was my favorite of all her books. So well written, I felt like I was apart of the story. "

— Sally, 12/15/2010" My least favorite Spencer book. Too much angst. "
— Rebecca, 11/15/2010" Just alright.

It felt really dated, even though it's really not all that old...

Plus, I don't like heroes who sleep with other women while they're married, "separated" or not.

3 Stars "
— Jess, 6/25/2010" One of the best books ever! "
— Mandy, 5/5/2010" i don't like it, the hero back to the ex so easily and stay at the ex apartment, i feel that i want to punch the hero, the heroine so easily forget and forgive the hero, so weak character. "
— Sweety, 4/14/2010" Really good book. I wish they would have put them together sooner in the book. Really enjoyed it despite all if the weird family and friend kissing. "
