Publisher Description

From the author who collaborated with Tom Clancy on Red Storm Rising, this is the book that dares to show us the military hardware, global upheavals, and raw combat a second Korean War would unleash. How F-16s would blast across the 38th Parallel. How ultra-modern submarines would vie for the seas. And how two armies would turn the snowfields of Asia red with blood. A thundering geopolitical thriller of vast scope, this is Red Phoenix—and a new standard for military/political suspense fiction.

"A big, big book.… A superb storyteller…Larry Bond seems to know everything about warfare, from the grunt in a foxhole to the fighter pilots far above the earth.… Red Phoenix is wonderfully entertaining and deserves to be the bestseller it is." —New York Times Book Review

"Gripping…masterfully accurate…Mr. Bond is in complete command." —Baltimore Sun

"Harrowingly real and persuasive." —Newsday

"A direct hit! The techno-thriller has a new ace, and his name is Larry Bond." —Tom Clancy

"Loved this book; it was the one that first got me into this author. Larry Bond was at one time one of Tom Clancy's main military researchers, and you can see why after reading this book. It's definitely detailed, but the good thing is that it doesn't overwhelm you withe technical stuff, and that makes the story flow very well. I highly recommend it!"

" Read this years ago and I found the story to be very good. What was difficult was keeping the characters straight as they had similar names. I was not completely immersed into the story until about half way through, when I finally got the characters straight. Overall, 4 stars. "

" Enjoyable techno-thriller depicting a second Korean War. The sort of thing that fans of Tom Clancy (esp. Red Storm Rising, which Bond actually co-authored) would enjoy, although some of it certainly outdated by now - I read it almost 20 years ago. "

" Very good book, some interesting aspects and a nice twist at the end. Enjoyed it all! The tunneling aspect is a scary twist and probably what's motivating a recent DoD contract to build a, yes, 30,000 lb bomb that will penetrate 200 feet and then explode! "

" "Excellent Kindle value". As stated in the overview, this is all about a hypothetical future war on the Korean peninsula. Plenty of action on the ground, in the air, and on the sea. Normally I finish a book in a few days, this 700 pager took a bit longer, and the action is non-stop! "

" Not as good as Red Storm Rising but a good read, and well-written. I appreciate the way the author can make the reader enjoy an action book about battle while at the same time not glorifying war. "
