From the author who collaborated with Tom Clancy on Red Storm Rising, this is the book that dares to show us the military hardware, global upheavals, and raw combat a second Korean War would unleash. How F-16s would blast across the 38th Parallel. How ultra-modern submarines would vie for the seas. And how two armies would turn the snowfields of Asia red with blood. A thundering geopolitical thriller of vast scope, this is Red Phoenix - and a new standard for military/political suspense fiction. Download and start listening now!

" Loved this book; it was the one that first got me into this author. Larry Bond was at one time one of Tom Clancy's main military researchers, and you can see why after reading this book. It's definitely detailed, but the good thing is that it doesn't overwhelm you withe technical stuff, and that makes the story flow very well. I highly recommend it! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Nick Black | 1/1/2014

" It's no Red Storm Rising, but it was fun and clearly superior to the remainder of Larry Bond's legacy of trash. "

" Clancy-esque cheap thrills. Only read if you are stuck somewhere with nothing better to do. "

" An entertaining read, but Larry Bond gets somewhat too convoluted sometimes. "

" Its the invasion of South Korea by the North with the help of Russia. There is lots of ground combat, air combat and naval combat. Lots of military jargon. Sometimes you might get lost between combats. "

" The book that first got me interested in Korea. "

" Read this years ago and I found the story to be very good. What was difficult was keeping the characters straight as they had similar names. I was not completely immersed into the story until about half way through, when I finally got the characters straight. Overall, 4 stars. "

" Very much in the style of Tom Clancy (enormously long and very detailed) albeit without the annoying Jack Ryan character hanging about. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Tord Hoppe | 2/8/2013

" The only really exciting part was right at the end and unfrtunately very shortlived. Otherwise a competent piece of military fiction. "

" Fantastic book. Held my attention through all 700 pages. Very well put together with great information. Puts you right in the action. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jim | 10/3/2012

" Enjoyable techno-thriller depicting a second Korean War. The sort of thing that fans of Tom Clancy (esp. Red Storm Rising, which Bond actually co-authored) would enjoy, although some of it certainly outdated by now - I read it almost 20 years ago. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 George | 8/17/2012

" One of the best books that I have ever read. With the current events happening in Korea I hope the butterball from the North doesn't read this book and get any wild ideas. SO believeable.... "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Ernie | 7/17/2011

" Very good book, some interesting aspects and a nice twist at the end. Enjoyed it all! The tunneling aspect is a scary twist and probably what's motivating a recent DoD contract to build a, yes, 30,000 lb bomb that will penetrate 200 feet and then explode! "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Wayne | 6/30/2011

" "Excellent Kindle value". As stated in the overview, this is all about a hypothetical future war on the Korean peninsula. Plenty of action on the ground, in the air, and on the sea. Normally I finish a book in a few days, this 700 pager took a bit longer, and the action is non-stop! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Steve Bradshaw | 10/8/2009

" Great military thriller. Over 100 pages of plot line and character development, but once the action starts it is non-stop to the very end. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Brandon | 8/2/2009

" Alternate history novel about a second Korean War. Great story, read well with a lot of suspense and excitement. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Troy | 4/29/2009

" A fictionalized account of what it might be like if there was a second Korean war. The detail is about right, and it is very well written. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Peter | 4/23/2009

" Not as good as Red Storm Rising but a good read, and well-written. I appreciate the way the author can make the reader enjoy an action book about battle while at the same time not glorifying war. "
