Publisher Description

Umberto Alvarez is a grieving man whose quest is to bring down the railroad company he blames for the death of his wife and children three years earlier—no matter who gets in the way. Peter Tyler is an ex-cop looking to redeem himself after being suspended from the force. Now an investigator with the National Transportations Safety Board, he will stop at nothing to catch the elusive Alvarez.

But the case is more complicated than it seems. As Tyler’s investigation proceeds, it becomes apparent that Alvarez is no terrorist—in fact, the more Tyler investigates, the closer he comes to the real truth.

Packed with action, laced with romance, brimming with heart-stopping suspense, and marked by the intelligence and humility that make Ridley Pearson’s novels stand apart from others in the genre, Parallel Lies will cause listeners to agree that he is “the best damn thriller writer on the planet” (Booklist).

" Pretty fair thriller about fellow who likes to derail trains because he has a grudge. I didn't believe the resolution and I thought there was a logical problem that was big enough to drive a Mack truck through. The rest of the story was alright. Pearson has done better. "

" I read this book more than five years ago so I don't remember details. I noted that I thought it was good, but the romance didn't ring true to me. "

" I readlly enjoyed this Ridley Pearson novel. The character of Peter Tyler is a good one and the story moves quite well. J. Robert Ewbank author "John Wesley, Natural Man, and the 'Isms'" "

" Unlike other Pearson books, this one just seemed to drag on and on when it could have been more "on edge" if he had cut the chase down considerably. Knowing who and why right from the start took away from the suspense. "

" Did you like the movie The Fugitive? Well this feels like that. Probably because of the trains. But also because of the guys on the run. And the agents. And the bad guys. And the injustice of it all. And the good guys winning in the end. Overall, a decent lunchtime diversion. "

" While it moved a little slower than I would have liked, I enjoyed the character development and attention to detail found in this novel. Suspense was at a premium and I would have enjoyed a little more tension. "
