" Of the first 3 Oz books, this one seemed the most kid-oriented. The story logic was very lax and the characterization wasn't very deep. Still it was a fun little adventure with an unlikely heroine in the form of Billina, the talking chicken. As always I loved gazing upon John R. Neill's illustrations! I'm impressed too that Tiktok is the first robot in literature. Chances are I'll try the next Oz book, but I'm hoping it'll be a bit better than this one. "

" Book 2 of the OZ series almost lost me. I am glad I kept going, Ozma of Oz was very cute. I wonder why they have never made this one into a movie. The summer is almost over and I am falling short on my goal to make it through all 14 of the Oz books summers end. If you are a Wizard of Oz fan these books are fun to read. "

" I was so into this book, that I reread it several times and 'tis a book that I could read while walking. "

" Maren loved "the wizard of oz" so much that she was thrilled when I told her there were 13 more stories about oz. I don't think we'll read all of them, but after reading the reviews decided we'd at least give this one a try. So far, it is very strange, but Maren is liking it, and we'll see how it ends up. "

" The most enjoyable of the Oz books for me thus far. It's humorous, has Dorothy in it again, and takes place outside of Oz which adds to the allure. Looking forward to reading more - they only take about a day so it's fun to knock them off the list quickly. "

" This is a curious book and I was interested in it because I'd seen the movie Return to Oz. I like the story a lot and I can see now why they did what they did with the material for the film. I will say, however, that this was a lot darker than I was expecting but I was a little disappointed at the way that things were usually just kind of left. The wheelers were fantastically creepy and I wish that he'd done more with them but I suppose that's asking a bit much from a children's book. All in all, though, I liked it and suggest it for any fans of the Oz books. "

" The best in the series thus far...Baum's best writing and most involved plot. "

" I'm really enjoying this series of books. Very creative and fun adventures. I recognized some of this story from the movie Return to Oz. "

" Fun light reading. Incredibly imaginative. L. Frank Baum wrote 17 books about Oz, by popular demand. "

" Book 3 of the Oz stories. The kids love the characters and miss the ones that are missing from previous books and love the new ones. I think all of us were disturbed by the princess who was obsessed with her looks and had a dressing room full of interchangeable heads. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Holly | 11/17/2013

" Magical. I really liked the part about changing heads... or was that ozma in a different book. "

" This was an amazing book! The writing was very captivating, and, I felt like I just had to keep reading until I was finished. In my opinion, it is better than the first book of the series, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I think everyone should read it at least once. "

" Such a fun read especially when reading to kids. Baum introduces many new characters in this third book and Tik-Tok has to be the break out star here, but Bellina comes very close behind. "

" I would not recommend that young children read this book unless a parent explains certain parts in it. It gave me nightmares when I was eleven. "

" i READ THESE BOOKS INDIVIDUALLY, IN HARD COPY.
My grandmother had kept them forever. They were published in the late 1800s and to my eternal regret I read them to pieces. I still have the books but they are in rough shape. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Belknits | 3/4/2010

" The Marvelous Land of Oz was our favourite. It cracked us up! It's so full of puns, and the whole family enjoyed it. Most of the stories are character-heavy (in terms of descriptions - but this is not a bad thing as the characters are incredibly imaginative), plot-light, but still entertaining! "
