Montana Hendrix has found her calling — working with therapy dogs. With a career she loves in a hometown she adores, she’s finally ready to look for her own happily ever after. Could one of her dogs help her find Mr. Right... or maybe Dr. Right? Surgeon Simon Bradley prefers the sterility of the hospital to the messiness of real life, especially when real life includes an accident-prone mutt and a woman whose kisses make him want what he knows he can’t have. Scarred since childhood, he avoids emotional entanglement by moving from place to place to heal children who need his skillful touch. Can his growing feelings for Montana lead him to find a home in Fool’s Gold, or will he walk away, taking her broken heart with him?

"I liked this book a lot. Montana was a sweetheart and at first she and Simon were like oil and water. Simon could have been a very unlikeable character, but Mallery lets you get to know how cheated he was in his early life, but despite that, he loved and healed children. Montana looked through the layers of a very lonely man and gave him the love he needed and deserved."

" It was nice to read a book that main characters have flaws. Unlike most "Romance Novels" Where the character are mostly buff and beautiful. All females are thin with over flowing breast. Males all have bulging biceps. Ok..keep the bulging biceps I'm weak. All in all one of the better books in the Fools Gold Series" "
— Jennifer, 2/8/2014" Quick summer read with a happy ending... "
— Kim, 1/23/2014" Montana Hendrix works with therapy dogs, using them in the hospital to help soothe patients, especially children. She meets Simon Bradley who avoids people while helping children. He moves frequently to prevent emotional ties, until he meets Montana. Predictible ending, but interesting about the therapy dogs. "
— Jacquelynn, 1/22/2014" I was really looking forward to reading about this couple but it was such a let down. I mean I know a lot of these books are fiction but this was just a buch of hooey. First of all Montana got on my nerves because she was willing to sleep with the Dr. even though she knew there wouldn't be a commitment and then she cries when he tells her he's leaving. Well duh what did you expect. Too me that's just a woman who has issues and a floozy. Sorry but if sleeping around is all you are wanting well just shows you what kind of person you are. I just had issues with this book and I wanted to really like them but couldn't. "
— Sandy, 1/22/2014" This is my favorite of the "only" trilogy :) "

— Ann, 12/26/2012" I really loved this story. It dealt with real issues of a child not knowing love and learning that he could receive love and not be alone. "
— Jill, 10/18/2012" Montana's story. I just never really warmed up to the doctor. Nice continuation of the overall story arc though. And I'm really interested in Denise's story. Not the best in the series but still a worthwhile read. "
— Photojim, 4/5/2012" another pleasant read from susan mallery in her FOOL'S GOLD series. the hero is a scarred uptight dr and the heroine is a down to earth one-of-triplets who works with therapy dogs. it does work outin the end! "
— Diane, 12/6/2011" Celebrity surgeon comes to Fool's Gold for three months and Montana is assigned the job of convincing him to stay. It's a romance novel! Of course he stays! "
