Quotes & Awards

  • “A quicker, more enjoyable read you won’t find. Veteran Scudder fans will rejoice at sharing his adventures again. May Block—and Scudder—never retire.”

Library Journal, praise for the collected short stories

  • “Matthew Scudder, his wife, Elaine, Mick Ballou, and Mick’s new wife sit around a table in Mick’s Hell’s Kitchen saloon for one last night of stories before the building is transferred to its new owners.”

    Amblingbooks.com

  • “[These Matthew Scudder short] stories could serve as either a companion to the books, if you’ve read them, or an introduction to the characters if you have not. However, if this is the first exposure you have to Scudder, I encourage you to read a bit more before taking in “One Last Night at Grogan’s.” This story is a touching cap to the characters and story lines. If there are no more Scudder tales to be told, this is the perfect ending.”
