Official Book Club Selection is Kathy Griffin unplugged, uncensored, and unafraid to dish about what really happens on the road, away from the cameras, and at the star party after the show. (It’s also her big chance to score that coveted book club endorsement she’s always wanted. Are you there, Oprah? It’s me, Kathy.) Kathy Griffin has won Emmys for her reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, been nominated for a Grammy, worked and walked every red carpet known to man, and rung in the New Year with Anderson Cooper. But the legions of fans who pack Kathy’s sold-out comedy shows have heard only part of her remarkable story. Writing with her trademark wit, the feisty comic settles a few old scores, celebrates the friends and mentors who helped her claw her way to the top, and shares insider gossip about celebrity behavior—the good, the bad, and the very ugly. She recounts the crazy ups and downs of her own career and introduces us to some of the supertalented people she encountered before they got famous (or, in some cases, after fame went to their heads). Word to the wise: If you’ve ever crossed Kathy Griffin at some point in your life, check the index for your name. Along the way, Kathy reveals intimate details about her life before and after she made the big time. She opens up about everything from growing up with a dysfunctional family in suburban Illinois to bombing as a young comedian in L.A., from her well-publicized plastic surgery disasters to her highly publicized divorce, and more. Only in this book will you learn how the dinner table is the best training ground for a career in stand-up, how speaking your mind can bite you on the ass and buy you a house, and which people in Kathy’s life have taught her the most valuable lessons—both inside and outside the entertainment industry. And as if all that wasn’t enough, there are also dozens of exclusive and somewhat embarrassing photos from Kathy’s own collection—featuring the diva of the D List herself, with her old nose as well as her new one, plus celebrity friends, foes, frenemies, and hangers-on for you to gawk at. Refreshingly candid, unflinchingly honest, and full of hilarious “Did she really say that?” moments, Official Book Club Selection will make you laugh until you cry, or just puke up a little bit.

"Boy was this a guilty pleasure! I love Kathy Griffin and reading her book I could almost hear her reading it to me. Many laugh out loud moments which always make me very popular on public transportation, but hands down the funniest chapter is about a show she did at a college with Andy Dick. The chapter is about the hot mess named Andy Dick. I laughed, cried and snorted and generally alarmed people around me."

" kind of a long read. but when she is on she is on. i found myself laughing out loud in some chapters and rushing through others. but you can feel her honesty throughout the whole book... don't read if you have an issue with language. she has no filter in life or in her writings. "
— Chanda, 2/20/2014" Not what I was expecting...in a good way. While Kathy is still snarky and bitchy as ever, this is an actual memoir. She talks about her career, her childhood, her brother the pedophile, her plastic surgery, her divorce...real-life shit sprinkled with profanity in the way that only Kathy knows how. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves some good dick jokes. "
— Davidmilton, 1/23/2014" I think she is funny as hell but her book was a disappointment "
— Taralyn, 1/21/2014" This is a first in a line of comedian biographies I picked up (primarily based on availability and not for my allegiance to any given comedian). It doesn't contain any of the hilarity that you might hope for, but Miss Griffin does share some insight about eating disorders, some interesting stories, and some HORRIBLE stories about Andy Dick. Yes, I'll pass on going to one of his live acts. I did like learning of Griffin's version of being down-to-earth and consistent hard work. "
— Ellis, 1/12/2014" Not a bad read, although I think the Woz chapter wasn't as interesting and seemed to interrupt the flow of the rest of the book "
— Alyce, 12/24/2013" I read the whole thing. I believe I requested the book because of a comment made on Rupaul's Drag Race. "
— Alfajirikali, 12/15/2013" This was the only book of Kathys that i have read and frankly she should stick to television. I like her and I think shes a funny gal but I wasnt to amused with her book. If any of her others are good please let me know. "
— Stefanie, 12/13/2013" Hilarious and deep. "
— Edward, 12/12/2013" I loved this book! So honest and so witty. I also enjoyed getting the dish on celebrities - how they really are and also back in the day before they were huge stars. "
— Lara, 10/30/2013" Unmemorable. (That's a word now) I finished it last night and probably couldn't tell you anything specific about it. Other than The Woz seems like he'd be an awesome email buddy. "
— Heather, 10/25/2013" I know, right? Heavy literature? I picked it up at the library and couldn't put it down! Really a fun read - perfect for the beach! Not too shocking but a nice behind the scenes look at the Hollywood scene. "
— Tatia, 9/18/2013" Read this one because I like Kathy Griffin- rude, outrageous , inappropriate, YES, all those things & more. Like the people she puts through the wringer, there is another side to her as well. "
— Alex, 9/3/2013" Rather Dissapointing "
— Anya, 7/13/2013" If you like/get Kathy Griffin, you will like this book. "

— Kaki, 2/7/2013" i totally love kathy griffin, and i love her even more now after this book. i admire her fearlessness and work ethic. great book! "
— Kristin, 1/6/2013" Written in Kathy's well known voice. Much of it is very funny but also tells an interesting life story. A must read for fans and worthwhile for everyone else. "
— Joseph, 10/14/2012" Love her, especially when I'm feeling snarky and obnoxious myself. She provides a great outlet! "

— Farrah, 11/29/2011" I got about a 3rd of the way through this book and decided that I just didn't care enough about Kathy Griffin's life to finish it. "
— Jason, 10/6/2011" I couldn't put it down. It was like the author was talking directly to you. It has everything; good and bad. "
— Christa, 9/22/2011" Truthfully, the best memoir I have ever read...and I read A LOT of them. So funny, laugh out loud even, with very serious topics that aren't usually talked about so freely everyday. I hope for a sequel :). "
— Marshal, 8/21/2011" This was an interesting read. Learned about the show biz industry and I didn't know much about her at all. Nice to hear about someone who worked to get where they are, rather than just being born into it. "
— Jackie, 5/13/2011" I listened to this on audio and I think it's probably the only way to truly get the Kathy experience. Fabulous! "
— Katie, 5/7/2011" Kathy Griffin reminds me of a favorire aunt of mine, so I'm sort of inadvertently fond of her. "
— Meave, 4/26/2011" Love her. Liked the book, except for the chapter about her and Woz. I didn't like the story via email style of writing. "
— Lisa, 4/25/2011" Kathy Griffin recently joined the list of "supported celebrities" in our house, so I picked up her bio for $3 at our dead Borders. It is a great book to read when you are sick in bed longing for diversion. She seems like quite a nut. Also, this was better than Sarah Silverman's book. "
— Autumn, 4/21/2011" If you like Kathy Griffin, you'll enjoy this book. "
— Andy, 4/19/2011" I knew some of these stories before I read this, but she still delivers. "
— Eileen, 4/17/2011" Funny. I kept hearing Kathy's voice in my head and I read this book. I really loved her relationship with her parents. Good read. "
— Brandi, 4/8/2011" Kathy was of course funny, but so "real" and shared some really tough stuff from her life. "
— Jacob, 4/6/2011" As a long time fan of this outstanding Comedienne, I just had to read about the hometown life and the road she has traveled thus far. She wrote this book as if she was talking to you. It is as funny, witty and compelling as the claims have made. I loved every page of the book. "
