Publisher Description

The thrilling novel that launched #1 New York Times bestseller Jeffrey Archer's career, Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less. THE SWINDLE IS INGENIOUS The conned: an Oxford don, a revered society physician, a chic French art dealer, and a charming English lord. They have one thing in common. Overnight, each novice investor lost his life's fortune to one man. The con: Harvey Metcalfe. A brilliant, self-made guru of deceit. A very dangerous individual. And now, a hunted man. SO IS THE REVENGE With nothing left to lose, four strangers are about to come together—each expert in their own field. Their plan: find Harvey, shadow him, trap him, and penny-for-penny, destroy him. From the luxurious casinos of Monte Carlo to the high-stakes windows at Ascot to the bustling streets of Wall Street to fashionable London galleries, their own ingenious game has begun. It's called revenge—and they were taught by a master.

"This is the third Jeffery Archer book I have read in quite a short period of time and after being initially disappointed with A Matter of Honor and then being taken away with the brilliance of Kane and Abel, this book proves a happy medium, it is good without being spectacular. The plot line of out swindling the swindler is a clever one and the schemes the author has devised are ingenious and was the highlight of the book. Once again the detail within the book was slightly disappointing, I know that this is a relatively short book and therefore doesn't leave much time for going into great detail on things but I found that the authors descriptions did not alway paint the full picture of the scene which made it a little more difficult to visualise what was going on."

" One of my all-time favourite books. I know that well educated English majors aren't supposed to love Jeffrey Archer - but this book is a beaut with twists and turns - redemption - vengeance - and the fact it is inspired real life events than happened to Jeffrey Archers himself as a younger man makes it all the more realistic. " Even though it was set in the Pre-electronic revolution, this comedic take on the nature of debt is another great title from Archer. The characters in this book complement each other, and like another Archer novel, expect dashes of humour throughout this book that make it an enjoyable read! "
