Michael Phelps is one of the greatest competitors the world has ever seen. With an unprecedented eight gold medals and world-record times in seven events, his performance at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games set a new standard for success. He ranks among the most elite athletes in the world, and is both an inspiration and a role model to millions. In No Limits, Michael Phelps reveals the secrets to his remarkable success.
Like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods, Michael Phelps has learned to filter out distractions and deliver stellar performances under pressure. The road has not always been easy. When he was younger he was diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder; other kids bullied him; even a teacher said he would never be successful. Later he had to work through injuries that jeopardized his career. In No Limits, Phelps talks for the first time about how he has overcome these and other challenges; about how to develop the mental attitude needed to persevere, not just in athletic competition but in life. His success is imbued with the perspective of overcoming the obstacles that come your way and believing in yourself no matter the odds.
Exploring the hard work, commitment, and sacrifice that go into reaching any goals, No Limits gives a behind-the-scenes look at the makings of a real champion. It’s easy to get bogged down by doubt or to lose focus when a challenge seems out of reach, but Phelps believes that you can accomplish anything if you fully commit yourself to it. Using the eight final swims of the Beijing Olympics as a model, No Limits is a step-by-step guide to realizing one’s dream.

"This is one of my favourite books of all time. I have a real autographed copy signed out to me that I got from his swim camp. He is literally my hero, and as a competitive swimmer, there is no greater joy then seeing the rest of the world get excited about your sport. I'm glad that all non-swimmers out there got to see what swimming really is. It gave me the inspiration to jump back in the pool, knowing that anything is possible."

“Introduced by Phelps himself, the book is read by Holter Graham with a voice that matches the tone of Phelps’ writing: a touch of cockiness offset by hard work and dedication to his sport.”
— Audiofile" This book explains michaels life up intill after the 2008 olympics "
— Hayden, 2/13/2014" i really liked this book overall it was good the only thing is that it was a little challenging to me. "
— Anthony(the, 2/12/2014" I really enjoyed this book but you really need to have a knowledge of swimming or all of the statistics and training will be very hard to follow "
— Sandy, 2/12/2014" A champion's history. This book shows how a talent chase his dreams and the bate to achieve his goals. Really nice! "
— Eduardo, 2/9/2014" This book is pretty inspiring, and right after i read it I started trying to push myself much harder in practice and it really payed off, I made divisional championships for the first time that year. "
— Casey, 2/8/2014" This book is all about Michael Phelps' preparation to the Beijing Olympics and all of his events in the Olympics. It showed his thoughts of how he visualized the race and what he went through before the race up to him winning the race. The structure is in chapters. 9 chapters one for preparation and the rest for the eight races. I think this is for people from ten years and up. "
— Sohil, 1/30/2014" well, michael phelps isn't exactly a writer, but this book does explain a lot about himself. this book is basically the behind the scenes of his life, its the stories that the news don't mention. michael phelps is amazing, he is the best of his kind! as a swimmer i was very inspired by this book. "
— Liza, 1/20/2014" A great read before the Olympics. Go team USA! "
— Ross, 1/19/2014" Not really what I was hoping for. But enjoyed reading about how much he respected his coach and how he got his drive to succeed. Always push yourself and never say can't. "
— Melanie, 12/19/2013" Very inspirational and with the London 2012, he is making a history - the most medals received! "

— Shratha, 10/13/2013" I was so impressed with Michael phelps after the 2008 Bejing Olympics that when I saw this one in the library, I had to read it. Michael used visualization with specific goals, and achieved them. He is so determined to win. "
— Linda, 5/15/2013" OK book, seemed to have his stuff together, then he admited to smoking pot. What can you honestly learn from somone who spends a large portion of his day face down in a pool. "
— Taylor, 2/16/2013" Inspiring read, gave me an even greater appreciation of his athleticism "
— Kam, 6/27/2012" I don't read many autobiographies, in fear of losing respect for the person in question. In this case, I gained a lot of respect for Phelps. He comes across as very genuine, hard working and kind while at the same time being honest about the few mistakes he has made. "
— Becca, 8/17/2011" I actually loved this book, which surprised me. I couldn't put it down, read it in 2 days. I am not sure whether I would have felt the same way if I hadn't been a swimmer in my previous life. Chris and I agree, it is a book we will have our children read when the time is right. "
— Jill, 7/7/2011" Inspirational... Great insight into what is involved in winning! "
— David, 6/12/2011" Not well written but I enjoyed the recap of all his events. I really enjoyed hearing about some of his coaches techniques. "
— Joshua, 2/21/2011" What can I say? Micheal Phelps is phenomenal. I've wanted nothing more than to be in the Olympics and this was all the inspiration I needed. Sometimes it kind of felt like it was a look at what I can do book but it was worth it. Even if you don't love swimming like me, you should definetly read it. "
— Danie, 12/17/2009" I enjoyed this because I respect Michael Phelps and all he has accomplished. But there wasn't much to it. A nice travelogue, nothing life changing. And I want to know about Bejing. "
— Krystal, 11/14/2009" It takes a lot of work to be as accomplished as Mr. Phelps at such a young age. Lots of determination and hard work. "
