A peaceful Minnesota town, where crime is something that just doesn’t happen, is about to face its worst nightmare. A young boy disappears. There are no witnesses, no clues—only a note, cleverly taunting, casually cruel. Has a cold-blooded kidnapper struck? Or is this the reawakening of a long-quiet serial killer?
A tough-minded investigator on her first, make-or-break case… A local cop who fears that big-city evils have come to stalk his small-town home… Together they are hunting for a madman who knows no bounds, to protect a town that may never feel safe again.

" This is the best thriller I've read to date. Wonderful! "
— Laura, 2/13/2014" great suspense, but disappointing ending "
— Longsam, 2/12/2014" This was a pretty good book but I found it took a while to get through. It was one of those books that was easy to put down and do something else until you reached the ending. "
— Megan, 2/4/2014" Good book but you need to read the next one to get a final ending I guess. "
— Vicky, 1/28/2014" Literally one of the best thrillers I have era in my entire life. This along with the book after it have been my go to fall back plan if I have nothing else to re-read. Whereas books like this are usually predicable, these books completely caught me off guard and left me wondering. "
— Sean, 1/28/2014" The best way I can describe this novel is pure disappointment. It seems the author got carried away with the numerous characters in this story and didn't know how to end the mystery. The final chapter was annoying in the sense that it left me completely hanging on why the kidnapping occurred, what the reasoning was behind the culprit and would the killer strike again? Hoag left the novel hanging so I figured a sequel might be written to extend the characters, but there isn't anything. I will not read more of her novels due to the bad taste this one left in my mouth... "
— Sara, 1/28/2014" I first read this book sometime in 95-96 but after reading the Oak Knoll series recently, wanted to reread Night Sins and finally read Guilty as Sin. I enjoyed this book just as much the 2nd time around, even if most of the story did come back to me and I knew how things would end. I enjoy Tami Hoag's books. She has a great writing style and adds the details and nuances that make characters complete. "
— Frankie, 1/27/2014" Yes, Hoag does leave you hanging and you have to read the next book to find out what really happened, but it is still a page turner. "
— Jeanette, 1/24/2014" I just love her books - couldn't put it down. I was initially disappointed at the ending, but after reading some reviews on here I see that there's a sequel, and that's why so many things were left hanging. "
— Rachel, 1/22/2014" loved it, this was the 1st time I read one of her books. Was looking for something suspenseful "
— Nelly, 1/19/2014" Very Good; young boy kidnapped in Minnesota, efforts to find him, many undercurrents, leads to sequel. "
— Joe, 1/17/2014" I could not put this book down! I was on the end of my seat going round and round in my head trying to figure out who did it. Both books in this duo are amazing and a must read for anyone who loves a good whodunit mystery. "
— Liane, 1/16/2014" I am having a hard time getting through this book but I don't want to stop reading it either. I picked it up because it was cheap and some of my friends love Tami Hoag. "
— Angie, 1/13/2014" I enjoyed this as a suspense/thriller. "
— Valerie, 1/13/2014" Great start, but I didn't finish this one. Got bored, was too long and drawn out. "

— Victoria, 12/21/2013" Very interesting story. Usually I can figure out who the perpetrator is in the story, but this one was more difficult for me to determine. I believe there is more than one in this book, but I'm not sure who it is. I am interested in reading the sequel to see what happens. "
— Amanda, 12/18/2013" This was a pretty good book but I found it took a while to get through. It was one of those books that was easy to put down and do something else until you reached the ending. "

— Linda, 5/10/2013" I'm SO in the middle with this...Tami Hoag is an amazing writer, with her chilling story idea and detailed caharacters. But with dragging chapters and random sex scenes, I feel I'm being tortured (and not in a good way!) just to find out who did it! "
— Shania, 4/24/2013" I enjoyed the suspense part of the book. I did not enjoy the romance part. "
— Charisa, 3/22/2013" I'm glad there is a sequal and I have it on my bookshelf. I was pretty pissed when they didn't get all the players in the "game". "
— Janet, 3/9/2013" I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved the characters. "
— Katina, 2/14/2013" Ok book. it really gets you sucked in at the beginning but I must say the ending is a TOTAL let down! :( I will not be reading the other books in this series! "
— Carole, 1/31/2013" This book was just ok for me. It was a little slow going at first and I was getting sick of Megan's seemingly constant need to "prove" herself. "
— Deborah, 1/9/2013" Ever since I first read this book for the first time about 6-7 years ago this has always been my favorite Tami Hoag book especially because I enjoy the intensity of interaction between the Mitch Holt and Megan O'Malley.
