"You just have to love Aimee Leduc for a fun summer read. A mix of 30s Noir and the New Millenium computer hacking and all kinds of interesting tidbits about places you didn't know about in Paris - sometimes can be outright funny -like when a character says "I'll play him like a piano" -can't exactly imagine someone saying that in 2010 but it keeps the flavor of the underbelly noir scene going. I would love to go with Aimee on a shopping trip to the flea markets for some of her vintage clothes."

— Houston Chronicle" I really like all Cara Black's books just for the Paris atmosphere. She tackles a different quartier with each book and makes me feel like I'm there. Actually I feel depressed that I am *not* there. They are not literary masterpieces (like Jacqueline Winspear mysteries), but they are loads of fun. I also love the descriptions of Aimee LeDuc's wardrobe -- retro couture. She make it seem easy to throw together fab outfits. I guess it is for Parisians. "
— Crystal, 2/14/2014" as good as usual...the place is the thing "
— Carol, 2/7/2014" Well written enough that the heroine being poor but very stylish -- a minor character who works in a fashion house assumes she's a model -- plus goddaughter of police commissioner and a detective partner whose a dwarf, a judo expert and a top notch hacker, weren't enough to make me put it down. Not well written enough to get me to pick up another book in the series though. "
— Doug, 1/28/2014" Shocking sentence structure. Wow. This got published too. "
— Drew, 1/25/2014" My first time to read this author/series and I was not overly entertained, sadly. I picked up a few insights into French culture and Parisian locales but the mystery wasn't that interesting. Perhaps the upcoming discussion will change my opinion if Black has any fans in the group.... "
— Linda, 1/21/2014" A fun read. Aimee Leduc is a private investigator with style. If you love Paris and all things French you can't help being charmed by smart, chic and of course, very Parisienne, Aimee. "
— Nina, 1/19/2014" if you love paris, nice book to read. lot's of different paris locations. good murder mystery with a few twists. likable characters. "
— Jean, 1/11/2014" Lean writing, Parisian streets and underground tunnels, intriguing mystery--at last a readable Cara Black, and a big bite of Paris! "
— Kay, 1/3/2014" Listened. I enjoy this series, mostly because of the details about Paris. And I didn't figure out the "bad guy" either. "
— Joanne, 3/18/2013" Storyline got lost in the superfluous dialog about location, backstory and history. The end moved fast and tied up all the open questions. "
— JoAnn, 3/16/2013" I like all of her mysteries. Easy reading! "
— Marlene, 3/5/2013" Listening to this on books on tape. "
— Carol, 1/6/2013" The latest book by Black. I loved the 1st so much I read 3 in a row, just not in order. Loved the last 2 just as much as the 1st. "
— Sam, 7/21/2012" I think this is the best in the series, so far. Someone is trying to frame Aimee and she's desperately trying to clear herself. If you haven't read "Murder in the Marais" (the first in the series) read it before you pick up this one. "
— Lisaann, 7/12/2012" This story as all o f the other Aimee Leduc Investigations had many twists and turns! What a great suspenseful read! "
— Andrea, 6/2/2012" It pains me to give this two stars because I like the series and love the descriptions of Paris. But the plot of this one seemed thin and I found myself wishing Aimee's mother would just show up already. "
— Janet, 5/19/2012" I read this in one sitting. I love a good little mystery. "
— Windy, 4/11/2012" I love Paris! Another winner by Cara Black in the Aimee Leduc mystery series: My full review... "
— Harvee, 8/30/2011" Another good mystery in Paris "

— Carol, 9/20/2010" if you love paris, nice book to read. lot's of different paris locations. good murder mystery with a few twists. likable characters. "
— Jean, 9/2/2010" I still don't like Cara Black's rather choppy style -- but these books really give me the feel of Paris. Though I wouldn't say this is one of the better ones in the series. She pulled some serious rabbits out of hats in the last 30 pages... "
— Robin, 8/8/2010" I like all of her mysteries. Easy reading! "
— Marlene, 7/15/2010" as good as usual...the place is the thing "
