This volume of Mother’s Day poetry brings together poems throughout history and very special women. Our relationship with our mother is one of the most powerful relationships many of us will ever feel. The deep, self-sacrificing, unconditional love we receive from our mothers from the moment of our birth is truly beautiful. No wonder the first attempts at language by babies is usually “ma”, or something close to it—this is a universal sound for mother. In every culture, mothers are seen as both a symbol and living emblem of love and nurture, of comfort and safety. Through time, this unique and fulfilling relationship has inspired some of the greatest verse to be written by some of our most famed poets. We hope that listening to these carefully chosen words will help you reflect and further enjoy the experience that a mother’s love has brought to your life.
