Friendship, love, and forgiveness...
The Maxwells and the Popes have been friends forever. The women were college roommates, their husbands are partners in the same law firm, their kids have grown up next door to each other, and the two families share both vacations and holidays.
Like Wisteria Lane, the "perfect" suburban street of Desperate Housewives, all is beautiful and serene -- until an accident forces these close neighbors to look beneath the surface. And when their idyllic lives are unexpectedly shattered by a moment that can never be erased or forgotten, their faith in one another -- and in themselves -- is put to the supreme test.
In this moving, unforgettable story, Barbara Delinsky exquisitely captures the depth and complexity of the human heart as few writers can.

"superb, anatomy of two marriages in trouble, uplifting tale of redemption, fascinating to follow, supremely realistic from all perspectives, real life characters, all vividly painted and composing an important part of the whole... a quality read"

“Delinsky skillfully turns a somber scenario into intriguing women’s fiction.”
— Publishers Weekly“In this moving, unforgettable story, Barbara Delinsky exquisitely captures the depth and complexity of the human heart as few writers can.”
— Library Journal" i picked up this book as it was a recommended author similar to jodi picoult, who i have been reading a lot of lately and really enjoy. this book just didnt do it for me. the complete basis of the book wasnt believable. while the aftermath was interesting, i just couldnt get past the event itself. there wasnt enough build up to make me believe it. "
— Jen, 2/20/2014" I think I liked it based on where I am at in my life experiences...but still good... "
— Erin, 2/11/2014" I went blind into reading this book. Turned out to be really good. I suppose it could fall under the romance category, except that realistic issues of divorce and kids were involved. Some hot scenes spiced it up too. Well written. "
— Thom, 2/9/2014" only 4 stars because the ending was too close to what would happen in real life, instead of the purely happy ending I am always in search of. "
— Dina, 2/5/2014" I liked the book. Not one of her best but it was good none the less. I thought the story line was very similar to The Pact by Jody Picoult. It seemed like one or the other read the other authors book and thought they could improve it a little. I would take this over The Pact anyday. I don't think they addressed the issue of infidelity appropriately, you don't just accidentally have sex with your best friends husband/wife.That being said it was a nice way to pass my time and it did have a happy ending. Which is always nice. "
— Jarah, 1/31/2014" Barbara Delinsky is one of my favorite authors, however this book started out kind of slow. But I stuck with it and really enjoyed it. Barbara has such a great way of developing the characters in her novels. I look forward to more of her books. "
— Rita, 1/29/2014" As expected, a perfect vacation read. Great plot, lots of thought provoking stuff... and a hard social subject. "
— Babs, 1/15/2014" Was good. Surprised me. "
— Jesse, 1/15/2014" I kept turning the pages, wanting to know how the story turned out. I spent the day with my grandchildren, but my mind kept returning to my book. When I see the author is Barbara Delinsky I know the book will be a good story and not a cookie cutter book. "
— Kurt, 1/3/2014" I think Delinsky is a very good writer of human drama. She makes the characters come alive. The endings are sometimes predictable, but that doesn't hurt the story. "
— Jewett, 12/31/2013" I loved this book. It is a love story and a heartbreaking family story. "
— Paula, 12/27/2013" This is the model of women's fiction, I live by. "
— Sylvie, 12/14/2013" A bit predictable but a good read nonetheless. "
— Margaux, 12/2/2013" I only read maybe half of this book. Just couldn't stay with it. "
— Jkbees, 11/30/2013" An easy read for a day by the pool. "
— Stephanie, 11/29/2013" This story was interesting because of the trials the two families experienced--after the brief indiscretion. Being that I'm married, the story helped me appreciate my devotion to my husband & vice versa. Also, More Than Friends helps me appreciate the values my husband and I share. "
— Car, 10/16/2013" Not the best book I ever read...the beginning is more than a little hokie (I almost stopped reading.) It gets a little better as you get into it, but not a book I would recommend. "
— Kim, 7/19/2013" Good story, but a bit unbelievable ending. "
— Darlene, 3/28/2013" Like most of Barbara Delinsky's books the major conflict happens in the first chapter. The rest of the book deals with the aftermath. Its a good quick read where you care about the characters enough to finish but not enough to miss them when its finished. "
— Amkemp, 11/30/2012" Average romance, unlikely situations. "
— Lavonne, 10/30/2012" It wasn't my favorite of Barbara Delinsky's novels, but it was interesting. "
— Lori, 9/11/2012" Good book, a little lengthy. The problems the characters had in the story were very real and true to life. Enjoyed reading. "
— Chrissy, 6/28/2012" It was an easy read. I just had a hard time with the whole start of the book also. "
— Jody, 5/25/2012" This was one of those books in which I was able to put myself and was so, so glad I couldn't be blamed!!! "
— Suzanne, 4/15/2012" Not what you expect. Good, realistic story with full characters. I do recommend it. "
— Lidia, 4/1/2012" Bout half way through and disappoointed in it. Not great character or setting development and predictable plot. Too soap opera-ish. May not finish it for the next book club mtg.: Just finished and skipped through the last chapter or so. My opinion of book didnt change much "
— Dorothy, 12/25/2011" It was a pretty good book, I really enjoyed it! "
— Elizabeth, 7/30/2011" I don't think I'd recommend this book - the main storyline was fairly weak and unbelievable. However, the "side" stories kept my interest. I feel it had a "fairytale" ending, but Delinsky's writing kept me reading! "
