"I love the Miss Julia books. I have read them all. This one is like all the rest, but I feel comfortable with the character, and it is like visiting an old friend. This book has snake handling and tattooing and body piercing in it which adds to the interest. It also has an hilarious scene where Miss julia and Etta Mae put on a kidnapping from a hospital. If you have not read the series, I would recommend starting with book 1."

“In Ross’ delightful thirteenth Miss Julia cozy set in Abbotsville, North Carolina, Miss Julia decides to tackle long-neglected redecorating projects while her husband, Sam, is on a trip to the Holy Land…Those who like smiles with their crimes will be satisfied.”

— Kw, 2/11/2014" Kind of simple without too much real excitement. It had some good points. Miss Julia was a good person trying to help her friends. "
— Virginia, 2/10/2014" I find myself laughing out loud when reading Ann B Ross. Her books are filled with hilariously ridiculous situations. "
— Shannon, 1/27/2014" Slower start than the previous dozen books...but Miss Julia doesn't fail in her outlandish capers and escapades. Enjoyable and fun--just perfect for reading while drinking peach iced tea! "
— Dana, 1/22/2014" Thoroughly enjoyable! I am so glad that in 2004 I was attracted to 3 books on a library shelf - the first 3 books in the Miss Julia series. This is the thirteenth book and a lot of fun. I didn't even peek ahead this time! "
— Susan, 1/19/2014" I do love Miss Julia. She and Etta Mae are at it again. There's a road trip, a missing Mr. Pickens, a cult, some snake handling, and plenty of sweet tea. This one goes down as one of my favorites. "
— Emily, 1/10/2014" Miss Julia is off again and another hare-brained adventure along with snake handlers and body mutilators. Lots of chuckles. "

— Jeanne, 11/10/2013" "Rescue" is the newest title in the delightful "Miss Julia" series. This book, as well as the other titles in the series, provides lots of fun and laughs from the exploits of Miss Julia, her family and friends. Each time that I read one of these books, I think of the "I Love Lucy" tv series. "

— Patricia, 5/15/2013" The yearly release of the new Miss Julia book has become an event I truly look forward too because I adore this series. This book was good but I felt like the "mystery" aspect of it wasn't up to snuff and fully explored. "
— Ken, 4/11/2013" I found this book absolutely charming. I have not read any others in the series, and I haven't decided whether to do read more or not; however, this book and its main character really hit the spot. "
— Tara, 11/17/2012" Excellent summer read - if you like Southern and mysteries - this was a joy to read. (Along the lines of the Mitford series in that you don't have to worry about language, and other themes...) "

— Heather, 7/14/2012" Miss Julia is my hero!! "

— Janet, 6/13/2012" These books are okay. Not great literature, but they don't claim to be. I read them more out of habit because I have read most of the others. 2.5 stars "
— Tammy, 6/7/2012" Miss Julia is definitely growing on me. This one was funnier that previous ones, and also less plausible (the whole sheriff in WVA thing). From the way it ended, though, I feel this may be the last book in the series. "
— Patty, 5/27/2012" Miss Julia, is always, awesome!! Such a fun read, and I love how she loves little Loyd now with all her heart. "
