The tenth book in the internationally best-selling fantasy adventure series that inspired the forthcoming major motion picture Seventh Son. Back at home, but in no less danger, Tom will face a tragic love story, an unforgivable sacrifice, and a new creature of the dark that terrorizes a village with its thirst for blood.
Tom Ward, the Spook's apprentice, and his master have bound the Fiend at last. But now Tom must use his powers as the seventh son of a seventh son to put an end to the source of evil once and for all. When the Spook is captured by bloodthirsty creatures of the dark, Tom must vanquish a god, avenge his master, and protect the person he loves most—Alice—from himself. The Last Apprentice series is soon to be a major motion picture, Seventh Son, starring Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes, Alicia Vikander, Kit Harington, Olivia Williams, Antje Traue, Djimon Hounsou and Julianne Moore as Mother Malkin. It's a suspenseful thrill-ride that's "spine-tingling" (Publishers Weekly) and "anything but tame" (Horn Book). But don't read it after dark!

“The stuff of skin-prickling campfire stories.”
— Publishers Weekly (starred review)“Anything but tame.”
— The Horn Book (starred review)" This book was really good. Also REALLY scary!!! But I still reccomend to read it even though it gave me some nightmares... LOL. :-) good book. "
— Ben, 2/13/2014" What a fun summer read--I enjoyed it! While it made me hungry for the slightly ghoulish heart of the Graveyard Book (really in a class by itself) and the brilliant thrills and chills of Garth Nix's Abhorsen series, it was great to try a new series. The Last Apprentice might also appeal to fans of the Ranger's Apprentice series (those are getting a little strung out for me). "
— Abby, 1/30/2014" Outstanding book! Never know what's going to happen. Danger at every turn. "
— Kenyon, 1/29/2014" Enjoyed this book. It seems I have been in the mood to read about Medieval times lately and this really quinched my thirst for it! "
— Tisa, 1/24/2014" All of you people out there who love gothic fiction and horror would realy like this spine chilling book. It's not gory or bloody but it is suspence full. It is also unsettleing in parts. But the plot of the story made it work. "
— Kelsey, 1/23/2014" Easy to follow. Love that the period is back in the olden-days. No modern computers nor fancy equipment. Definitely kept me wanting more. Narrator is good too. "
— Kendar88, 1/13/2014" It was an amazing book that I couldn't put down even though some parts were quite scary. "
— Lucy, 1/2/2014" What a fantastically creepy and spooky read! It is aptly recommended for the kids over 10, and I would agree that it is probably too scary for kids under 10. Wonderfully dark and mysterious, I am looking forward to reading more in the series. "
— Mary, 12/8/2013" That was CREEPY. This book was definitely one of the creeepiest books I've ever read. The scenes at midnight were great and the characters were pretty good as well. "
— Fred, 12/6/2013" This series is so creepy...and so addicting! "
— Callista, 12/1/2013" Great book. I actually could hardly put it down. It is the first book in the series and I can't wait to sink my teeth into the next one. "
— Wendy, 11/29/2013" Good Youth fiction for 9-12. Adventure and mild scares. "
— Karen, 11/21/2013" Middle school book, but not for the faint of heart. I just recommended this series to a 5th grade boy. He is reading one every few days. He lives them! "
— Stacy, 7/5/2013" I really liked this story about a young man's adventures to become a spook. This is a great adventure for youth readers and adults. I listened to this one and enjoyed the narrator. I guess there is a long list of books in this series and the author is not done yet. One book was good for me. "
— Lisa, 3/24/2013" Can't stop reading over and over "
— Jo, 3/16/2013" It was a bit dark. I would have liked it a lot more if it weren't for the graphic bits. "
— Amy, 9/24/2012" I simply love this book! I couldn't get enough of it when I bought the first volume. The story its amazing and the characters as well. "
— A.M, 7/18/2012" Fun little read. I give it points for even pulling off creepy a couple of times. I like the concept. I'm not feeling too invested in characters yet, though the Spook's kinda cool. I do look forward to reading the next one. "
— Angie, 6/24/2012" I had several of my male students recommend this book to me....ummmm it was not 'deep' enough to hold my attention to go on to the rest of the series. It has good 'bones' but not enough depth. "
— Michelle, 4/16/2012" I think the book was unexpectedly good. Can't really say a single bad thing about it "
— Vaibhav, 3/30/2012" Really liked it and very fast read, but a bit gross/gory as well (eating the hearts of babies, maggots, etc.). Definitely darker than the septimus heap and harry potter series...maybe even as dark as the Deaver/serial killer thrillers I've been avoiding for now. "
— Shally, 8/23/2011" I enjoyed reading this book, but it was super dark for a young adult book. I think I might have liked it more if I had been expecting to to be so dark and scary. I would not recommend this book to anyone under 17. "
— Jeannette, 5/19/2011" seru!! tapi ternyata masih ada buku lanjutannya yah.. "
— Alvina, 5/18/2011" i read the whole series but i can't find some of them on goodreads. "
— Joshua, 5/15/2011" This really creeped me out for some reason. "
— Virginia, 5/9/2011" A really cool opening book about Spooks in the 18th century. They are talking about turning this book series into a movie. Could be very cool especially with a villian like Mother Malkin. "
— Gregory, 5/9/2011" Pretty spooky for a middle school book. This is a lot like the Range Apprentice but with ghosts and ghouls. "
— Linda, 4/17/2011" It was written well, and the story kept me interested. But it was a bit dark, so I couldn't give it five out of five. But it is still definitely one of my favorite books. "
— Jenna, 4/12/2011" Great boy book...goblins and witches and "spooks" and a young boy taken from his family because he's the 7th son of the 7th son which position holds graet magical powers. I've only read book one but every junior high boy I've recommended this series too, devours them. "
— Renee, 4/12/2011" I loved this story when I was a bit younger. It was really creepy, but thrilling at the same time. Perhaps the level of language is aimed at someone a bit younger, i.e. 13 and under, but the story is intriguing "
— Maggie, 4/10/2011" Easy to follow. Love that the period is back in the olden-days. No modern computers nor fancy equipment. Definitely kept me wanting more. Narrator is good too. "
