"What can i say!!! loved this book. this book was a very good eye opening book. i saw some of the stuff coming. Like the fact that Tom's mom is a witch, and that she would leave all of her stuff to him. but i didn't see that the room was all safe and that the trunks would be full of her sister's. The pindle witch's gave them a run for there money. but Tom had a trick up his sleeve and he didn't even know it yet. This is the first book that made the "bad" thing get the better of the spook and Tom. this book was way good i am already started the 5th book."

“Fans of the series will welcome the surprising revelations and further questions unveiled.”
— School Library Journal“Fans will appreciate the way this latest installment brings in elements from the previous books.”
— Horn Book" I didn't like this one as much as I've liked the first three. I had a hard time focusing on it, and I think part of the problem was that there wasn't as much interaction with the side characters that I usually enjoy (Alice and the Spook, chiefly). However, I will still eagerly look forward to the 5th book! "
— Kaye, 2/16/2014" As ever, Delaney delivers an enthralling tale of talented people with ordinary personalities doing extraordinary things. "
— Timnah, 2/12/2014" Very good detail "
— Lisa, 1/29/2014" These books are delightfully gory, and I really like the creative spin on witches, boggarts and other dark creatures. I was having problems forming a connection with the characters but toward the end of the book i really started to feel it. looking forward to to reading the next one. "

— Tonya, 1/9/2014" I give it 5 stars. I recommend you read this book. I would read the other books in the series first. If you don't like little purple monster things that drink blood this isn't the book you want to read. This book might scare some people. "

— Patty, 6/13/2012" Still more creepy fun with Tom & the Spook. This time, we learn lots more about witches and Tom's family. Not much more to report - see previous reviews. These continue to be a guilty pleasure. Just started #5. "
— Brian, 5/31/2012" I would've given it a 5, but towards the middle, it lists information that's not exciting; it doesn't hook you. But towards the end of the book, with the two lamias, witches, and them taking over Malkin Tower, it really hooks you. "
— Abe, 3/17/2012" Hmmm...THis is one of the greatest series I have ever read. LALALALLALALALALLALALALAL. I can't stop singing. — Lisa, 9/23/2011" Read the review of "Revenge of the Witch." "
— Hoover, 7/26/2011" Much more enjoyable than the last in the series. A bit darker than the previous books, but still kind of formulaic. Not bad for a children's book. "

He was the author of two other series of novels, Arena 13 and Aberrations. He lived in Lancashire, England, and most of the places in the Spook’s books are based on real places in Lancashire. The inspiration behind the stories often comes from local ghost stories and legends.
