USA Today and New York Times bestselling author C. L. Wilson’s hugely popular, epic romantasy series about a beautiful girl who would be queen, the Fey King, and their eternal battle for true love in the mystical Fading Lands.
Once he drove back the darkness. Once he loved with such passion his name was legend.
Once, driven wild with grief over the murder of his beloved, the majestic Fey King Rain Tairen Soul had laid waste to the world before vanishing into the Fading Lands. Now, a thousand years later, a new threat draws him back into the world—and a new love reawakens the heart he thought long-dead.
Ellysetta, a woodcarver’s daughter, calls to Rain in a way no other ever has. Mysterious and magical, her soul beckons him with a compelling, seductive song—and no matter the cost, the wildness in his blood will not be denied. As an ancient, familiar evil regains its strength, causing centuries-old alliances to crumble and threatening doom for Rain and his people, he must claim his true mate to embrace the destiny woven for them both in the mists of time.

"I picked this one up based on the excerpt in the back of one of Nalini Singh's books. For some reason, it grabbed me from the get-go. I wasn't sure about the lord of the rings meets flying cats set up, but it definitely won me over. Another thing I was hesitant about was the spanning of this story over four books...maybe I have a short attention span, but I usually like to have the story told in one shot. It was hard for me to picture there being enough story to sustain four full volumes, but there sure is. Each subsequent installment is just as interesting as the first. I loved both Rain and the originality of the story, Ellie was quite charming, and the drama and romance were well done (although I do want to boot both the mother and the twin brats in the ass most of the time). A great start to the series."

" The romance theme was too strong and repetative for my taste. "
— Helinä, 12/28/2013" I have to say that I am extremely happy that I gave this book a chance. I wasn't sure if the "fantasy" aspect of it would appeal to me but, I am happy to say that I was wrong! It's definitely an enjoyable read and I can't wait to finish the rest of the series! A huge thank you to my friend Michele for the recommendation!! :) "
— Tina, 12/25/2013" Amazing!!!! Wilson has created a wonderous fantasy land filled with magic and elves. I couldn't put the book down. This book had everything that a great paranormal romance should have and then some! "
— Penny, 12/21/2013" This is an awesome fantasy that weaves it's spell around you, making you want more and more. It just keeps getting better the more you read. I can hardly wait for the next book in the series to come out so I can read more about the Tairen Soul. "
— Wanda, 11/30/2013" Bin zu 3/4 durch und bisher kann ich 3 Sterne vergeben... "
— Yvonne, 11/14/2013" I really enjoyed the first half...however, the second half was a bit slow-paced...I kept expecting some action towards the end, but no such luck))) So I'm looking forward to reading the 2-nd book))) "
— Lala, 11/5/2013" Loved it once I got over the huge flying cat thing. =D "
— ~Jennifer~, 10/20/2013" What a great book! More people should be reading this series, it's beautifully written and so romantic :) "
— Ange, 10/8/2013" I loved this book but it really didn't have much of an ending... I can't wait till i read the second... it had better have an actual ending though! "
— Jolan, 8/17/2013" Loved the book Started reading it and could not put it down. Actually read all the entire series and will probably read it again. It met all of my criteria for a fantasy novel. Magic, Elves, Fae, and a hero that is not too good to be true.. "
— Dyanna, 5/3/2013" The main thread of the book was good. I thought it could have flowed better. Good Read and this author gets better with each book in the series "
— Kay, 7/5/2012" Could not put it down! Great story!! Thank you Katie!! "
— Joy, 5/17/2012" I can not defend myself, I loved it. Like a box of chocolates scarfed down way to fast. All house work came to a stand still for the couple days it took to finish. Guilty pleasure read and wonderful vacation from reality. So nice to know there are 4 more books to go... "
— Joyann, 1/29/2012" The author captivates you from the beginning until the very end. You can picture everything she describes so easily. I loved the book; not a typical romance novel. There's magic, fantasy, good vs. evil, suspense and romance all wrapped up in one spectacular book! This is a MUST READ. "
— Adrienne, 9/16/2011" Great world and story, I can't wait to see it play out but I hope the pace picks up a bit and some of the characters evolve quickly. "
— Kendra, 6/12/2011" Well, considering that I'm due to start the fourth book in the series, it was more than OK! I want to finish the whole thing before commenting. "
— Choxsuey, 5/22/2011" And a rocky road with Wilson kinda but her books are the epic shit people, no doubt about it ^__^ Tairen rule the sky forever! "
— Cheyenne, 4/26/2011" This book was pretty good for romance but a lot of it seemed kind of unnecessary. He probably could have watered it down just a little and made it half a book. Besides that I really did like it for what it was. I hope the next book captures me more effectively :) "
— Amber, 4/9/2011" Listened to this as an audio book while knitting- (of course). I really loved it- good mix of romance and fantasy. Nice detail without getting bogged down. I am looking for the second book on audio. "
— Anna, 3/12/2011C. L. Wilson wrote her first story at age six, and though she took a number of long detours during her life, she never gave up her lifelong dream of being published. Many years, hundreds of false starts, and five completed novels later, she received “the Call” in October 2006 and sold her epic fantasy romance, Tairen Soul, at auction. Wilson’s debut novel spent two weeks on the USA Today bestseller list, and her subsequent novels have gone on to hit a variety of lists, including USA Today, New York Times, and Publishers Weekly. When not writing, she enjoys relaxing with her husband and three children in sunny Florida and daydreaming of a world where people exercise in their sleep and chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream is a fat-burning food.
