"I liked this book so much better than her others for some reason. I like that the characters had 3 seperate stories that were intertwined at certain times. It was an easy, fun read. Definitely not deep by any means, but if you are looking for a fun beach/commuting read, this is the one!"
— Meghan (5 out of 5 stars)
Line up the watermelon cosmos and get ready to be consumed by the swank, successful, and super-spunky 40-something protagonists of Candace Bushnell's lip-smacking new novel.
— New York PostBushnell proves she's still the philosopher-queen of a social scene.
— New York Times Book ReviewA seductive, humorous tale about strong, powerful women.
— OK! Magazine" Great, fun read! Must be something about NYC and the excitement that seems to go on there! I like these entertaining reads! "
— Kathy, 2/20/2014" Mostly shallow, and the 3 main characters were hard to discern one from the other for most of the book. BUT compelling reading in terms of understanding how a certain upper echelon of NYC society functions. "
— Polly, 2/13/2014" Here we get to follow Bushnell`s new heroines through the minefield of work, love and life at the top, but it never really hit the spot as SATC did. "
— Mamizeit, 2/9/2014" Brain candy, and nothing more. "
— Ivynagel, 2/8/2014" This was an okay read, but it lacked much of a point. "
— Karla, 2/3/2014" So far it's awesome..women can definitely relate to the characters in this book from a personal standpoint "
— Alisha, 1/29/2014" I picked up a copy of this book at Goodwill because I needed some brain candy. As such, it was diverting. The story is amusing, and it was a quick, fun read. "
— Megan, 1/29/2014" I read this book to know the characters first, before watching the new television show. It's a classic Candace Bushnell, I-am-woman-hear-me-roar. And while I can appreciate a little bit of feminisim, this is a little over the top for me. I did learn a couple interesting things along the way though, and that was when you let someone pay for you at dinner, you automatically gain a "position of power" over the person you're paying for. Interesting, when you think about back when you were dating and let the guy pay for you. Anyway, it was an interesting book and I enjoyed it somewhat. BTW, if I could have given this three and a half, I would have. "
— Jeana, 1/22/2014" This book is fun! I kept shaking my head as the main character did more and more self centered things. Some how Bushnell takes a truly unlikable person and endears her to your heart. In the end you are rooting for her to show some side of humanity. I love all of this authors books. "
— Megan, 1/19/2014" Same formula as Sex and the City, but a good read all the same. Just different names for the characters, with slightly different careers paths and story lines. "
— Patty, 1/13/2014" Easy to read Sex in the City type book, great for reading whilst lying on a sun lounger with a cocktail in hand (which is exactly what I did). "
— Karen, 1/9/2014" Nice, but the happy ending disappointed me "
— Opjeshke, 1/4/2014" Great easy read. Very entertaining and fun. Highly recommend it. "
— Christy, 12/31/2013" Didn't get very far in this book...had to put it down and never picked it back up. :) "
— Anh, 12/29/2013" Same author as Sex and the City. Great story about 3 very successful women in NY "
— Jacq's, 12/9/2013" Definitivamente un libro para las fans de sex and the city... "
— Katya, 9/28/2013" not as good as Trading Up by any means...too "sex and the city" esk without the valid societal points... "
— Virginia, 9/1/2013" Took me a while to get into but glad I stuck it out. It did pick up. "
— Ginnine, 8/16/2013" The book was okay. I think I would read something more recent by this author. "
— Jencey/, 3/19/2013" I feel like I was only interested in some of the characters. Loved Victory's character, like Nico, and I was not particularly interested in what Wendy had going on...maybe it's because I don't care for Brooke Shields... "
— Julie, 3/6/2013" Decent book, but not as good as I expected. "
— Catheron, 1/7/2013" I tried listening to this on cd in my car - but couldn't get into it. It seems really boring. Maybe if I have the opportunity to actually read the book, I may try again. But if not - oh well. Gave it a shot. "
— Brandie, 11/16/2012" I can't believe I'm saying this, but the show is FAR superior. Definitely Ms. Bushnell's worst book. "
— Courtney, 9/23/2012" Got this for the flight to Ireland...definately a fun beach read. No Sex and the City but I still liked it. "
— Lauren, 4/11/2012" This was a very quick read. While it was entertaining, I found myself annoyed with the characters and what they found important. "
— Kristin, 8/11/2011" Eh, it was ok. Not much of a plot line and the author went on and on about the differences in male power vs female power. "
— Leah, 6/12/2011" it wasnt terrible but it wasnt amazing either, bits of it were entertaining enough but it wasnt as good as sex and the city. the story was much of the same really and the characters were a bit lifeless. all in all not bad for a quick beach read. "
— Rachel, 5/22/2011" I really liked this book. This author is very good and I would like to read more from her if she writes more. "
— Katie, 5/16/2011" All about successful women in NYC. Interesting how it discusses & explores gender roles in relationships and the work world. Unfortunately, the ending was anti-climactic; when things got worse for the characters towards the end, they were simply, almost suddenly, resolved. "
— Sarah, 5/11/2011" Meh. Although I think the book was better than the short-lived TV series. Name-dropping, a complete lack of any sort of moral compass, blind characters, skewed priorities, and unremitting materialism . . . not for me. "
— Sarahlynn, 5/4/2011" sometimes i just need some trashy fun. this book satisfied my needs. "
— Stefanynicotia, 5/4/2011" It started out as a really good girl book, but sort of dragged on and ended just ok. "
— Carrie, 4/28/2011" A great guilty pleasure read. Bushnell does a great job of putting forth a case about the lack of women in high-powered positions and the challenges to get to the top. But, she does it in an entertaining way that makes for a fun, frothy book. "
— Kaarin, 4/27/2011" I nice easy read. I enjoy Candace Bushnell's style in general. I did find the characters a little annoying at times. I really wanted to slap some sense into them.

I also found it ended much too abruptly and certain issues weren't resolved such as the Wendy/Shane storyline. "
— Carrie, 4/9/2011" Good quick guilty pleasure read- I meant this as a book for my commute but quickly found that I couldn't put it down. It sucked me in but the content being mediocre earned it only 3 stars, rather than more. Now I'm back to Anna Karenina... "
— Lauren, 3/31/2011" could not even finish the book - tried twice. i love sex and the city but this book just went nowhere "
