"I enjoyed this book the first time I read it. Finding available for "loan" on my Kindle from the library was all I needed to reread it. While I think I remember the end, I am 80% into the book and still feel like a "first" read. Very enjoyable."

“Last Man Standing has the essential elements of a terrific David Baldacci novel: a tough but tender-hearted hero, dirty dealings in the nation’s bureaucracy, and a roller-coaster plot…There’s plenty of punch all the way to the last page.”
— Amazon.com, editorial review“Another exciting thriller…plumbing the emotions and exploring the shadings of human nature in an impressive way…Baldacci has created characters that readers will demand to see back in a sequel…This is Baldacci’s most accomplished thriller. The action, conspiratorial and overt, shifting from urban to rural and back, is nearly nonstop and expertly drawn; heroes and villains alike are believable and equally flawed; and there’s a newfound maturity of tone here, a somber acceptance of the suffering that necessarily attends human life.”
— Publishers Weekly“Ron McLarty’s gravelly voice follows the twists and turns of the violent mystery. As London and Daniels seek the identity of the killer, dramatic music accentuates the tension.”
— AudioFile“Baldacci’s fans, of which there are many, will be happy to see him back in thriller-writing mode.”
— Booklist“After a brief sojourn into historical fiction, Baldacci is back in the thriller mode.”
— Library JournalEngagingly fierce...Baldacci's brain-teasing plot leaves you wanting more.
— People[This book] finds the author in his familiar bestselling territory, the seamy underbelly of the nation's bureaucracy.
— Entertainment WeeklyA killer thriller...LAST MAN stands tall.
— USA TodayBaldacci's most accomplished thriller...The action is nearly nonstop and expertly drawn.
— Publishers Weekly (starred review)Riveting...fascinating...a novel that will knock readers' socks off...The intricate plot moves at breakneck speed...The reader will be breathless.
— Richmond Times-Dispatch" I hope the new hero can step up his game a little. I like twists and turns, but not being totally blindsided. Although I was thinking early on how it might play out, I still didn't expect all the people involved. "
— Brian, 2/12/2019" Keeps you on the edge of your seat with all the twists and turns. The surprises make you go back and listen again. "
— Cindy , 10/22/2017" Slow start, but good story. "
— Joan, 2/19/2014" This is a real guy's book with all the detail on guns and ammunition, weapons and tactics used by HRT, the FBI's Hostage Recovery Team. Adult language, a gratuitous graphic sex scene early in the book, but thankfuly none to follow in rest of book. Suspensefuland imaginative, but too predictable. Baldacci is an excellent novelist but could do better than this. "
— Linda, 2/12/2014" Very good, took a twist I was not expecting. I like the way you are totally led in one direction but totally goes in a different direction, keeping you interested in the book. "
— Denorris, 2/5/2014" A good plot wasted. 80% of the book was slow. I feel it was an excellent plot which was wasted.. For this kind of plot the book should have been real fast.... I think the author has tried to be realistc and lost the pace in the book... Last 100 odd pages was good. "
— Srikanth, 1/25/2014" Can't put this book down; a super thriller right from the start! "
— Dean, 1/22/2014" Found it difficult to get into this book, I thought it would improve as it went on but it didn't, persevered until the end but disappointed. Had previously read Absolute Power by this author and that was a brilliant read, this one not a patch on it. "
— Mark, 1/15/2014" Not one of his best works. "

— Katie, 10/19/2013" This book took me a while to get through - partly because I kept misplacing it. It was an ok book - but not my favorite Baldacci book. "
— Kristi, 9/19/2013" Action and intrigue; secrets and mysteries. Thought I would really like this, but was a little bit military for my liking. Don't get me wrong - still a good read and the twists and turns keep up the interest. Maybe it's the writing style that's not so much my style. "
— Kathy, 5/10/2013" Very bad book with a not too bright story. "
— Murali, 3/31/2013" What are great book. A must read. David Baldacci does it again with an excellent story. "

— arne, 1/18/2013" This book was too depressing. I kept waiting for the main character to have some luck, but it didn't happen. There was too much description of weapons for my taste. "
— Sue, 12/5/2012" An unpredictable thriller -- but a little heavy on describing the guns used by the FBI assault teams! "
— Ann, 10/3/2012" This us one terrible book. Baldacci is a cliche machine. Extremely poor. "

— Dave, 5/13/2011" this by far is one of the most boring books i've read this year. Maybe for an adult this would be great for them, but not for me. I really tried my best to finish and keep reading it but it wasn't working out for me. i didn't get a chance to finish it so i don't now what shelve to put it on!!! "
— Desiree, 5/2/2011" Baldacci is one of my new favorite "just for fun" authors. Mystery/politics. Just plain good stuff, makes you think, but not too hard. "

— Karen, 2/17/2011" Typical suspense and cop drama. OK in a pinch. "
— Gay, 2/2/2011" Pretty much exactly what you think it is. Not awful, but nothing special. "
