Publisher Description

The story tells of an earth so fully devastated after 1,000 years of Psychlo rule, barely 35,000 human beings remain. Among those surviving is the courageous Jonnie Goodboy Tyler. If he emerges from what is effectively a tribal community among the Rocky Mountains, he nonetheless proves more than a match for the inestimably cruel and technologically advanced Psychlos.

"Don't overthink the 1st Chapter. This is one of the best books I have ever read!!! I stated this book while reading Jurassic Park, which is a very good read, but this book was far and away better-- could not put it down, did not want to sleep or eat. Its that good. "

" I love this huge book. If you are a reader and like long books this book has it all. It's a perrenial read for me. I consider this book soem of the best scifi there is, unfortuanely the fil didn't do it justice. "

" I can make this review nice and short. The book is great and the movie sucked! Read the book and save your money and don't see the movie. "

" I really enjoyed the first two thirds of the book. However, as the plot started to resolve itself, I thought that it got kind of preachy on the social and economic themes. If there had been a little more subtlety to the last third of the book, this would have eared at least a four star rating. "

" One of the five best Sci-Fi books I've ever read.Forget the movie, forget the religion even forget the the slightly childish writing style. As a pure and simple enjoyable story I've never come across any better. "

" OK, this is Pulp SF. It is not in any way great literature or even great fiction. It is however, an entertaining ride if not taken as anything more than cheesy entertainment. The movie, however, is inexcusable. "

About L. Ron Hubbard

L. Ron Hubbard (1911–1986), with nineteen New York Times bestsellers and more than 230 million copies of his works in circulation, was among the most acclaimed and widely read authors of the twentieth century. As a leading light of American pulp fiction through the 1930s and 1940s, he was further among the most influential authors of the modern age. Indeed, from Ray Bradbury to Stephen King, there is scarcely a master of imaginative tales who has not paid tribute to him.
