" I picked this book up randomly, not having prior knowledge that it was a series book, I just thought the plot was interesting so I took it. I'm sad to say i found it disappointing, and it just wasn't able to capture my attention for a few reasons. First of all, it was way longer than it needed to be, it took so long to get to the freaking point! Secondly, I think the author focused way too much on unimportant little details, pretty sure 1/3 of the book was just about mixing concrete and painting the front porch, who cares? Thirdly, the entire story was just too predictable, you know who the antagonist is from the very beginning, and you get to read from his point of view, so you know what he plans to do, where was the suspense? Plus the characters were just way too nonchalant about the entire situation. I thought the ending was the most interesting, where there was finally some action and a few questions answered. The writing was okay but it didn't make up for the boredom it provoked, I fell asleep once while reading it. "

" I only read this series because the books are set in Eastport, Maine, a lovely isolated area. "
