This disaster situation proves all too possible when a small plane crashes at a nearby military base, setting off Hydra's lockdown and trapping Adonia and her team in the heart of the hazardous, waste-filled mountain. Now, the only direction for them to go is deeper into the mountain, through the tear gas and into a secretive area no one was ever supposed to know about.

About the Authors
Kevin J. Anderson has published more than 180 books, fifty-eight of which have been national or international bestsellers. He has written novels in the Star Wars, X-Files, and Dune universes, edited numerous anthologies, written comics and games, and the lyrics to two rock CDs. Anderson is the director of the graduate program in Publishing at Western Colorado University, and he and his wife Rebecca Moesta are the publishers of WordFire Press. There are twenty-four million copies of his books in print in thirty-four languages. His most recent novels are Bats in the Belfry, Skeleton in the Closet, Persephone, and Princess of Dune (with Brian Herbert).
Doug Beason is the author of fourteen books, eight with collaborator Kevin J. Anderson, including Ignition and Ill Wind, as well as two non-fiction books. A Nebula Award finalist, Doug’s short fiction has appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies, and he has written for publications as diverse as Analog, Amazing Stories, and Physical Review Letters. Doug and Kevin’s novel The Trinity Paradox holds the distinction of being the first work of fiction ever nominated for the American Physical Society’s Forum award for promoting the understanding of physics in society, and was the first novel ever reviewed in Physics Today.
