The President's son and daughter are abducted, and Detective Alex Cross is one of the first on the scene. But someone very high-up is using the FBI, Secret Service, and CIA to keep him off the case and in the dark.
A deadly contagion in the water supply cripples half of the capital, and Alex discovers that someone may be about to unleash the most devastating attack the United States has ever experienced.
As his window for solving both crimes narrows, Alex makes a desperate decision that goes against everything he believes--one that may alter the fate of the entire country. KILL ALEX CROSS is faster, more exciting, and more tightly wound than any Alex Cross thriller James Patterson has ever written!

"Thrilling novel. Two disticktly different events going on with Alex Cross trying to handle both. Are they connected or is it just coincidence they occurred at the same time? This one is most definitely a page turner. Loved it."

“Patterson’s Kill Alex Cross is thriller with family at its heart…It’s Patterson at the top of his game…Underneath the fast-and-furious action, Patterson is exploring what it means to be a father, a man, and, ultimately, a human being in an increasingly complex and dangerous world.”
— Washington Post“Andre Braugher and Zack Grenier are a perfect team in this new Alex Cross thriller, perhaps one of the best…Braugher’s straightforward portrayals of Cross and his cronies are outstanding, and Grenier’s accents and characterizations of the villains are chilling. A kidnapper’s insane laugh reaches right into your gut. Sound effects—music, gunshots, car chases—all contribute to the fast-paced action.”
— AudioFile“The eighteenth Alex Cross thriller seethes with fast-breaking action.”
— Barnes & Noble, editorial review" Fast paced and fun. Not too much depth, but good enough for the elliptical. I will say he overused the term 'high jingo' - we get it. "
— Rachel, 2/16/2014" Honestly, I've noticed serious decline in James Patterson's works for some time now, since he's no co-writing nearly all of his books and cranking them out faster than a printing press! This book was no exception, it's just not up to the standards I've come to expect from his work, and the only reason I read it was because I'm massively addicted to Alex Cross novels. Though with the quality of this book so low, I may have to reconsider that position. This book was left so open ended, and that's just not typical of a Cross novel. Only half the book had resolution, and even that wasn't what I've come to expect. It was a disappointment. "
— Jaynessa, 1/27/2014" Good book, as usual but not one of my favorite Cross books. I love Cross though and cannot wait for the next one. "
— Kylene, 1/18/2014" Two different story lines with predictable endings., but as always with James Patterson, an entertaining read. "
— Louise, 1/18/2014" Great thriller. Definitely nails the genre right on the head. Turned the pages by itself. "
— Phildiggety, 1/9/2014" It was a good read, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the other Alex Cross books. So I guess you could say I was disappointed. "
— Tina, 1/7/2014" Listened to the audiobook version and loved it!! The ending sort was left open ended. "
— Sara, 1/1/2014" Typical Alex Cross but I still enjoyed the fast paced story. "
— Kristina, 12/16/2013" Started off very promising. Several side sub-plots, which were interesting, but in the end, just a diversion to the real story. I was a bit disappointed. "
— Stacy, 12/11/2013" He is back to writing by himself and it is great. "
— John, 12/8/2013" A rather easy read. I felt the story was missing detail and development, but that read i couldn't put it down. That's the quickest I've read a book in awhile. "
— Scott, 11/28/2013" It was a typical Alex Cross book. It was okay but there wasn't like an exciting, new element to the series. "
— Nicole, 11/25/2013" I'm a big Alex Cross fan and James Patterson doesn't do him justice in this installment. I'm already upset with Patterson for allowing Tyler Perry to become Alex Cross in the latest movie version. Despite that I'm not ready to give up on Alex Cross yet. "
— Crystal, 10/16/2013" had to reread this book because I remembered nothing not his best book. "
— Cathy, 9/21/2013" Too paint by numbers compared to the early Cross stories. There's some setup for a new villain for the series, but not one that is very compelling to me. At least, not yet. "
— Thane, 6/2/2013" This book was OK. Definetely not as good as some of his books. But I like his books because they are a nice easy read. Nice small chapters so if you have to stop its nice to be able to stop at a chapter. "
— Carmel, 5/20/2013" Definitely the least favorite of mine of the Alex Cross novels. I felt like the entire book was a setup for the next novel. I hope it is better! "
— Jacqueline, 5/9/2013" Never disappoints and kept me turning the pages once again Mr. Patterson...keep Alex Cross books coming!!! "
— Rachelle, 2/25/2013" Good book if you enjoy murder/mystery. "
— Larry, 10/7/2012" Don't let the title fool you, that's all I'll say on the subject. Kill Alex Cross was a decent read, but not as entertaining as past Cross books. "
— D.K., 8/23/2012" I,m an Alex Cross fan but this book just doesn't have the twist and depth of some of the previous stories it seems to be more about the introduction of a new big bad than it does about the presidents children. Hopefully it will be worth the wait for book 19??? "
— Richard, 7/26/2012" It was a good read. What's like about Patterson books is that they are a quick read with a good story. I must say that I have learned that I fall in love with a serial book up until a certain point. There is only so much an author can do with a character and I get bored. "
— Tracey, 7/15/2012" I loved the book until then end. Then if felt like the door bell rang and he had to finish the book before he answered it. "
— Karen, 5/29/2012" Quick, fun, engrossing read. The end fell a little flat but a faced paced gripping plot w twists and turns keeps you on your toes throughout. "
— Vanessa, 4/6/2012" a fun, fast paced thriller. great for summer reading especially if you are an alex cross fan. however, it's not one of patterson's best. just sit back and enjoy the read. "
