Since his wife died, Ralph Roberts has been having trouble sleeping. Each night he wakes up a bit earlier, until he’s barely sleeping at all. During his late night walks, he observes some strange things going on in Derry, Maine. He sees colored ribbons streaming from people’s heads, two strange little men wandering out after dark, and more. He begins to suspect that these visions are something more than hallucinations brought on by lack of sleep.

" my favorite of his books "

" While the philosophy in this story is a little garbled and maybe not the most ethical, it is well structured and provoking. Insomnia can be scary... "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Lyn Mckenzie | 2/14/2014

" Loved this, i love how Stephen King incorperates charachters from other novels together "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 CJ | 2/6/2014

" Well yes, it's long!! But, quite a good one for me but I've the idea that it's not for everyone. Insomnia, abortion, mental illness, and a matter of life and dead and the world in between. It has a good start, a bit slow in the middle, but regains it's enjoyable pace towards the surprisingly unexpected end! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 ✂ | 2/3/2014

" This was a very interesting and well written book. Though not as gory as some of his other books, this is defiantly worth ready all 700 hundred (and then some) pages. "

" Great book, except the very end. This is something that Stephen King does quite a bit, unfortunately. He tells a great story and uses a contrivance to finish it. It doesn't mean I stop reading; it's just a bit jarring. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Sheeba | 5/16/2011

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Skip | 5/16/2011

" King absolutely knows how to tell a story. I love the allegorical nature of the book, pitting good against evil. I'm not a person that loves post-apocalyptic stories, but King makes me want to love this genre. One of the best reads I've had in years. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Deanna | 5/15/2011

" This was the first Steven King book I ever read. I couldn't put it down. I read the entire book in a day. "
