The Inside Story of America's Ultimate Warriors
When Osama bin Laden was assassinated, the entire world was fascinated by the men who had completed the seemingly impossible mission that had dogged the U.S. government for over a decade. SEAL Team 6 became synonymous with heroism, duty, and justice. Only a handful of the elite men who make up the SEALs, the US Navy's best and bravest, survive the legendary and grueling selection process that leads to becoming a member of Team 6, a group so classified it technically does not even exist. There are no better warriors on Earth.
Don Mann knows what it takes to be a brother in this ultra-selective fraternity. As a member of Seal Team Six for over eight years and a SEAL for over seventeen years, he worked in countless covert operations, operating from land, sea, and air, and facing shootings, decapitations, and stabbings. He was captured by the enemy and lived to tell the tale, and he participated in highly classified missions all over the globe, including Somalia, Panama, El Salvador, Colombia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. As a coordinator for several civilian SEAL training programs, and as a former Training Officer of SEAL Team Six, he was directly responsible for shaping the bodies and minds of SEALs who carried out the assassination of Osama bin Laden.
But to become a SEAL, Mann had to overcome his own troubled childhood and push his body to its breaking point -- and beyond. Inside Seal Team 6 is a high octane narrative of physical and mental toughness, giving unprecedented insight to the inner workings of the training and secret missions of the world's most respected and feared combat unit.

"I have always had a fascination with special forces. I read the Rogue Warrior Dick Marchinko books back in the early-mid 90's when they came out. The killing of Bin Laden brought me back to the genre. Tells the turnaround life of the Author and how the Teams turned him from a man with a criminal death wish to a man our country owes a debt to."

" Pretty interested read about a guy who is in the 99.9th percentile of total bad asses. "
— Kelly, 2/13/2014" Hey, you know what's not fun when you're researching a book about the Navy SEALs? Having a source that is mostly redacted materials. Because I totally wanted to find just what I was looking for and then see that it's been completely blacked out. "
— Kristin, 2/10/2014" This is quite likely the most juvenile book I've ever read - nothing more than an ego stroke writ large for Don Mann. It occurs to me that in its 276 pages he never mentioned having ever read a book in his entire life. It shows. I had to create a new bookshelf for this book: junk. "
— Mike, 2/7/2014" Pretty good insight on America's toughest military team "
— Mandy, 1/15/2014" Not a whole lot to take away from this book "
— Luke, 1/11/2014" The book was very interesting, but with all the redactions due to the confidentiality of the information did make it a little hard to follow. "
— Ronald, 1/4/2014" I thought it was a good look at a Seal's life. How much it is a lifestyle as opposed to a job. I can't help but think their was "embellishment" but overall it was enjoyable. "
— Richard, 12/21/2013" The best part of this was learning where adventure runs came from. He was a triathlete and then branch into adventure runs and the eco-challenge. Very interesting. Most of the seal operations are blacked out so it made for a disjointed read. "
— Candy, 12/18/2013" Average- Most of the info was not new to me except I couldn't remember the details of Black Hawk Down. "
— Sue, 12/16/2013" Hard to follow with all of the redactions, but up to par with what I expected "
— Kyle, 6/13/2013" Difficult to put away! What a guy! Almost difficult to believe there are people like that, but what the special forces to is very extreme too. So his obsession with pushing himself to the extreme really made the rest of the fantastic events somewhat small. In a good way :) A book well worth reading- "
— Olof, 6/7/2013" Listened to the audio version of this. Fascinating story about an amazing man and great insight into his life, both as part of the Navy Seals and his remarkable endurance and extreme sports career. He's realistic enough to know he's not perfect but tells a story that will keep you interested. "
— Doug, 4/4/2013" The "redactions" in this book are ridiculous. There are literally multiple consecutive pages with everything blacked out. It's a good thing I checked this out from the library or else I'd want my money back. "
— Amar, 2/15/2013" This book gave me am close up picture of the type of person who becomes a SEAL. Don Mann was a bit of a daredevil when he was a teen, and that didn't change when he became an adult. Luckily he found the Navy and the SEALs and pushed the boundaries with a team of elite soldiers behind him. "
— Melissa, 1/3/2013" Really was not I was expecting. Talked a lot about his own training,(I.e.) Iron man etc. The records he broke. I am thankfull for his service. "
— P.e.lolo, 12/10/2012" This was a memoir by a long-time Navy SEAL and corpsman about his life in the military. It kept me interested throughout and gave me a strong sense of respect for those who defend our country. "
— Alison, 11/7/2012" Interesting but the blacked out text detract and at times become distracting. "
— Ian, 10/3/2012" fascinating subject, loved the inside scoop into SEAL training and ops. unfortunately the US government redacted most of the info on the UBL mission, as well as other parts of the book (at least in my copy from the library)... otherwise would've rated this higher! "
