"I wasn't sure I was up for another book spent running away from crazy gangbangers, but Brenda Novak proved me wrong. Part small town romance, part woman-in-peril story, IN SECONDS tells the story of Laurel Hodges, who has hidden herself and her children in a tiny Montana town in an effort to escape the aforementioned gangbangers. She's changed her name, changed her looks and until now has managed to steer clear of the bad guys. But thanks to a phone call made in a moment of weakness, the bad guys now know her location and are on their way to find her. Of course the story unfolds much more slowly than that. And we get to watch as Laurel and her hunky neighbor, Sheriff Myles King, dance around one another and fall in love despite themselves. I loved the way Novak used the small town setting to heighten the suspense, so much so that Pineview was almost another character. IN SECONDS is the kind of story that makes you constantly fear for the worst, and if it were a movie I'd have been covering my eyes half the time. Starting the third one, IN CLOSE right now."

" This is one of two books by this auhtor I read set in same town in Montana so there are overlap of characters. This one ifa woman fleeing from her past and its racy and well written with a romance but the characters (the baddies) are somewhat stereotypical and not as rich and believable as her 'good' characters. Less spark in the romance here with the next door neighbour sheriff but its still a cmfortable read. "

" A fast-paced romantic suspense that keeps you turning page after page til the end. In Seconds is the second book in the Bulletproof series. The first book was Inside. Although, I think they can be read as stand-alones, I recommend that you read them in order. Vivian Stewart aka Laurel Hodges has settled comfortably in Pineview, Montana, with her two children. But when a murder is committed, she wonders if The Crew has somehow found her. She lives next door to Myles King, the sheriff of Pineview and his daughter. The characters were likable and the story was gripping. I recommend to anyone who loves a good romantic suspense. "

" This one ended as well as it started. A much better ending than book 1. Although, I'm a bit skeptical how the deranged killer managed to accomplish all he did given the condition he was in from the first book. And I would have liked to have seen a bit more with the relationship between Vivian/Laurel and Myles. But despite all that, the book was pretty good. "

" Liked the drawn-out suspense of the book, but I hated the epilouge. After a 400 page book, you'd think it would get more than a page or two. Why bother? "
